I think someone else is feeding my cat

We have a 14 year old cat who is very friendly, i know she goes into other people's houses on our street as I've seen her. Lately she hasn't been eating much, she asks for food but when we put it down she ignores it and she's being sick a lot. Does this mean she's being fed by someone else or should I take her to the vet for a checkup? I'm not sure what to do.

She seems fine in every other way, looks healthy.

Is she losing weight? Worth a vet check if she’s being sick. You could also put on a paper collar to ask anyone feeding her to stop. Say she’s on a special diet.

Ok I'll ring the vets in the morning. I wasn't sure if I was overreacting. Good idea about the collar. She's a large cat and I haven't noticed that she looks thinner. I hope she's OK 😢

Yeah, sounds like she’s not feeling well. A change in appetite is usually a sign that their tummy isn’t happy.

Def a vet visit and start weighing her.

pipnchops · 19/07/2020 17:19

Silly question but how do you weigh a cat? Try and get them to stand on the human scales?

You weigh yourself with the cat and then without and deduct your weight.

One of our neighbours kept giving our cat milk and it made him very sick. I'd try keeping him in for a while x

Good tip with the weighing, I'll try that thanks. Yes I can't shake the feeling my new next door neighbour is feeding her milk or something, she's very taken with her and said she wants to get a cat. I might be being a bit paranoid but this coincides with her moving in!

Speak to your neighbour and just say has your cat been stealing food at hers because she keeps being sick and you're worried about her.

Take her straight to vet. X

copperoliver · 20/07/2020 09:13

Weigh yourself first then weigh yourself with the cat and work out the difference. X

Knock on neighbours doors first and ask them if they have fed your cat. X
