DD (8) and I are so exited, not first time cat owners for DH and I (separately before we met) but waited until DD was a good age and we had moved to a house with a better garden and away from a road to get a family cat - that took 10 years to happen in total.

We have a 3 year old girl coming, the last of 28 cats! That lived with a poor lady with dementia so we know it won't be plain sailing.

Hoping she settles into her life as a solo princess!

Any tips for the first few days welcome! We have a safe room set up for her with a feliway plug and all the usuals

Will post with the obligatory pic later :)

Oh how exciting! What colour is she?.

Faircastle · 19/07/2020 10:48

How exciting! Our pair of middle-aged cats arrived yesterday and seem to be making themselves at home.

28 cats! I imagine she'll enjoy the space and peace and quiet.

Congratulations! Our gorgeous boy has been with us a few weeks now and it was a bit up and down in the beginning but he is so much more settled now. He has started going out and that seems to have solved our litter tray issues. Have a lovely day!

Want2beme · 19/07/2020 11:01

I bet there's huge excitement in your houseGrin Hope all goes well.

She is black and white with a lovely pink nose, we were told she is calm and gentle and omg they were right, been home an hour and a half and she is out taking treats from DDs hand

So far so good :)

Aww welcome to your furever home kitty. She is the spitting image, sideways on, of one of my cats. It was quite a shock clicking on this thread and seeing your photo.

Toilenstripes · 19/07/2020 13:07

Aww she’s beautiful! My girl has been with us for about 6 weeks. We got her a scratching post, a cat nip toy and a box. She’s made herself right at home. It looks like yours is quite content with her new family! 😁

Haretodaygonetomorrow · 19/07/2020 13:08

She’s gorgeous. I love her facial markings - gives her a cheeky expression.

PhoebeSnow · 19/07/2020 13:08

She is lovely and you are off to a great start.

Papergirl1968 · 19/07/2020 13:10

She’s gorgeous. Love her pink food bowls too. She’s going to be one spoilt kitty! Smile

CatToddlerUprising · 19/07/2020 13:20

As she was part of a very large colony I would suggest when she eats that no one sits near to or tries to touch her. It may cause her to lash out if she feels someone is taking her food.

Thanks Cat :) I've already told DD strict rule no one touches her when she is eating - lots of dogs around the family too so one we have always stuck to with them too :)

She is going into a space to hide when we leave her along then as soon as we go to see her she comes out for fuss :)

Already looking through the door trying to work out what lies beyond

They were from the range lol, £2.99 each so not bad really, they do bigger ones for dogs

She is currently sat staring at me watching her, temptingly close to the overpriced bed DD convinced me to buy but not actually on it 😂🤣

We rescued a pair of cats last month. Got them a cat bed which they ignored for a week but now they rarely sleep anywhere else. It's by patio doors in full sun which I guess helps its appeal

Deathraystare · 23/07/2020 13:09

Ours used to sleep anywhere other than the cat beds we got! The ali baba basket, a wicker bowl for bread rolls was a favourite, any box, anyone's bed, the stairs (nearly trod on a cat once!).

Gingerkittykat · 23/07/2020 17:42

Get some cardboard boxes and she will happily sleep there!

She looks like she is settling in well.
