Kitten Teething

My Boudica is 14 weeks old and I wonder if she is teething.

A couple of days ago she gave out a yelp of pain when she was playing with a dangly toy. Looking in her mouth properly was impossible because she was in pain and biting and wriggling to get away.

From what we could see she had a very red gum and there was a tiny stump poking through the gum. It looks the same on the other side.

She is less sore now, I am wondering if this is teething or she had just hurt herself or if it sounds like she has dental problems.

I wouldn’t think she’d have dental disease yet, she hasn’t been alive long enough.

You can buy cat toothpaste & brushes but I do wonder how much is bought buy repeat customers & how much is bought by very optimistic first time cat owners.

I doubt very much if she will let us brush her teeth, I've had cats before so know exactly how awkward they are!

Very pretty I have a blue cp ragdoll girl who is now 3. I have never experienced teething in cats. But with ragdolls they are prone to hair balls so it's always advised to have grass available.

You can buy kitten teething toys. I wouldnt try a brush them and would give soft food. Theres quite a lot of online advice.

Possibly - our last set of kittens left their baby teeth in various places around the place as their adult teeth came in.
Scares the crap out of DH !

I had some cat toothpaste, it has a really long applicator. So was quite easy to give. However it was Vanilla flavour, Hmm and my poor girl absolutely detested the taste. I think if it had been meat or fish flavoured, she'd have loved it.

She let my DD put a makeup brush in her mouth so I will try a kitty toothbrush.

Her gums are less sore now so hopefully it was just teething but her breath is still really stinky.

I’ve seen YouTube videos where they get the cats used to the brush then progress to teeth brushing. It’s got to help if you can manage it.
