Getting two kittens tomorrow and feeling nervous. Need some advice

I'm getting two little boy kittens from same litter tomorrow, they are 8 weeks old. I'm nervous but very excited.

I have a few questions though, at night time I am going to bring them up to my room to sleep in their bed on the floor, so do I leave my bedroom door open and let them roam about upstairs? I'm worried about the stairs. If I should close my bedroom door and keep them in bedroom then should I bring their litter trays into the bedroom and their water?

Also is it okay to feed them on a schedule of 8 am, 12 pm, 4 pm and 9 pm?

Thanks in advance Smile

Well that didn't take long then Grin.

Very cute kittens.

Very cute

Toddlerteaplease · 14/07/2020 21:53

Having identical cats is great fun, good luck!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/07/2020 09:13

Sorry OP but I'm now puzzled (and clearly have too much time on my hands looking at kitten pictures Grin). In the earlier pic on the farm there was only one pure ginger kitten, the other two were ginger and white.
You seem to have two pure ginger kittens.
Has there been a kitten substitution?

First night mine were always bought into bed with me, given lots of fuss and cuddles and usually fell asleep snuggled under my chin. Depending how fast they settled in we found most only needed that one night and then they had free reign and chose where to sleep. If they weren't reliably using litter tray then we kept them contained in 1 room until they were.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I actually have idea, they put them in the box and I didn't notice until I was home ☹️ so I have no idea!

Check you’ve definitely got two of the same sex then, just in case!

But those two are your kittens now, even if one missed the earlier photo.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 15/07/2020 11:23

I wouldn't be at all concerned, your kittens are lovely - one was obviously on walkabout when the photo was taken. But as Guppy said - I'd get them sexed by a vet.

I got two very similar black kittens a few years ago - it's surprisingly easy to tell them apart most of the time

Shmithecat2 · 15/07/2020 11:31

Doesn't really matter what sex they are if you're doing the right thing and getting them neutered ASAP!

Gellert · 15/07/2020 11:50

Ginger females are rarer so it's likely they are both boys, you can look and see if both have same shape under tails, that way you'll know if it's one of each or you have 2 boys.

Oldestchild90s · 15/07/2020 12:00

Who cares op, they are both gorgeous! I'm jealous, i need a ginger one to add to my collection 🤣😻 enjoy them!

jokerismyfave · 15/07/2020 12:23

Thanks all! I love them so much already 😍 I will be getting them both neutered yes! But would be interesting to find out, will ask at the vets! Enjoying them so much, they're so good, eating their food, using litter tray. Coming out of their shells slowly but surely. Managed to get a few claps whilst they were distracted with other things. They're napping behind sofa now.

Last night was a success, left them downstairs, never heard a peep out of them and when came down this morning they were cuddled up together on the sofa.

My ginger cat was female, so it does happen (and a 4 month old kitten can get pregnant). But you’ll be getting them neutered, so all should be fine.

I’m envious!

OohKittens · 15/07/2020 17:26

You should be able to see soon enough what sex they are. My kitten has been home nearly 2wks (15wks old now) and it's very obvious he is a boy. They are beautiful kittens op.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/07/2020 04:46

Oh couldn’t you just eat them all up. Grin
