Had my almost 4 yo handsome boy PTS on Friday and we are just devastated. He was the most loved and lovely cat. I am sad for us, but also sad for him because he had a great life and should have had another 10 years of love and fun. It has knocked me and Dh sideways. We have no other pets and I am afraid that we never will again because every other cat will be inferior now. I feel like we will never get over this.

I'm so sorry 🌷

He was certainly a gorgeous boy!!

It's absolutely heartbreaking when they die, but a 4yo, so suddenly means you're dealing with the shock too.

Mine have always adopted me, so saying 'never again' hasn't really been an option.

I'm currently 'Unadoptable' though as where I live is thoroughly unsuitable for cats or dogs. But I will have others and NONE will replace those I've lost, but they will all make a new dent in my heart. Give it time.

I'm so sorry. It happened to me with my darling Troy in 10 May 2016, exactly 2 months before he was 6. I still remember that night when he passed away suddenly but not unexpectedly with HCM. He also was black and white and had the same face markings as your lovely cat although Troy had a little black moustache under his nose and a black beard under his chin.

I never thought I'd have another cat as he was so special until Cats Protection had a homing day last year. I was actually shaking when I filled out the form requesting a kitten but not one that was black and white, it would have been too painful. We are now owned by Haribo a white and grey cat. Here's Troy.

Are black and white cats prone to HCM ? I know certain breeds are

Thank you so much everyone x batshit I am so sorry you are going through this too.

Dh is in bits, he was ‘not a cat person’ having grown up with dogs but dcat converted him! We are going to make a photo book and have realised just how many many photos we have of him - 70odd Between us just since lockdown fgs!

Gorgeous black and white cats on this thread! OP, I can see what a character he was and those fond memories will be yours always.

A photo book sounds lovely. It will give you great comfort and a smile. They touch our hearts.

Troysmammy that is a proper cat x I am so sorry you lost him too young x

Oh he was beautiful OP.

I've had cats all my life, so I've had a lot of losses - they are all so special in their own way.
