Adopting two gorgeous kittens - any advice?

We are about to adopt two gorgeous kittens in a few weeks. Any tips for the first few days or generally? We will neuter them at the earliest opportunity and make sure all vaccines are up to date.

Don’t rush them. They might be confident or they might be shy and hide at first but they will come out in their own good time.
Find out what food they are on and feed them that.
Some people keep them in one room at first so as not to overwhelm them. Make sure there’s a litter tray and food/water for them.

Finally: you know the rules.... pictures!

Haha I will upload some pictures in a while. Do I need two litter trays or three? I assume I can transition them over to different food if needs be?

YABVU to start a thread about kittens and not post a picture!

@SheldonSaysSo1 - general rule is to allow one tray per cat, plus one extra.

With regards to transitioning food, it’s best to do it gradually - ie, mix 10% new food with 90% old food and gradually increase. Switching completely in one go can upset their stomachs. I’d maybe wait a couple of weeks first of all - they’re going to be going through a change moving to a new home, so I kept things familiar in the very beginning.

There’s another thread on here (fairly recent, I’m useless at links!) re imminent adoption. Some good tips on there re insurance companies and what products may (or may not!) be recommended.

And, as others have said, photos please!!

No kitten experience (mine were 1yo) but be prepared to be tripping over them ( and kittens are fragile unlike my adult pair)
For your feet to be shredded if they have the chance to attack you from under the sofa (needle like claws 'n'teeth)

And for you to stand gawping at catfood muttering "No , he didn't like that one . And she likes fish rather than chicken"

Mine were born rough . They survived on watever their mother dragged to the ground . Now they get chintzy if I give them chicken biscuits because the supermarket didn't have fish Crave .

Can you tell I love the little ratbags Grin

I am also really , really pleased to look on rescue websites and see the Adoption starting to get in gear again. Lots of re-homig going on .

Now , photos ? Wink

Lots of toys, rotate them, kittens like variety. Doesn't have to be expensive - we used cardboard boxes, paper tubes, bits of paper. A fabric shopping bag hung on a kitchen door with a rattle toy inside kept them amused for hours.
Be careful with pot plants and cut flowers, quite a few are poisonous.

Photos as promised! Thank you for all of your advice!
