Plans - hopefully rescue cat coming soon

Hopefully getting a rescue cat soon, just waiting on a phone call.

I was planning to put the litter tray upstairs in the third bedroom with a dog barrier on the door (I have a dog), just so the cat has privacy and the dog won’t eat the shit.

I was going to water the cat downstairs with either a bowl or one of those wee fountains. And I was gonna put the food on my desk as I hardly use it (again so the dog can’t eat it).

I’ve got plans for a cat tree, I’ve already chosen one.

Does that sound okay? I’ve never had a cat before so it’s all new to me.

Anything I’ve missed or any other tips?

Thanks.

Sounds great! Put the tower by the window so they can observe.

They love those fishing rod toys and laser pointers. In winter they like fleece blankets.

That sounds fine for a bit further down the line, but you will need to start off with everything, including the cat, in a much smaller space. As the dog is downstairs I'm guessing that should be upstairs, with the tray, food and water all in one room and the door closed - at least for a few days. Don't move the food downstairs until the cat seems relaxed and is beginning to explore downstairs and is used to the dog.

Thanks guys.

Yes I plan to keep everything in the third bedroom for a bit at first.

Cats protection do a good YouTube video on introducing cats and dogs.
