It looks like we’re about to become the adopters for a 14yr old time whose owner died a week ago. He’s been underfed since and I’ve got a vet appt booked for early next week so clear on what might come up there. I’m going to prep the small box room with litter tray, bed, food, water etc - is there anything else I should consider? By all accounts he’s a friendly cat but I know I need to leave him be initially. I’m assuming I should leave the box room door ajar to let him come out of his own accord? It’s been a while since I had a cat, this is all feeling very new!

Wow he's a gorgeous unit Grin is he missing his tail?
He's landed on his paws with you and the family, he's lapping up
The attention from the kids

Nope it was just the camera angle on the stairs - his tail has been up in a jaunty question mark for much of his time here so far! He’s not drunk much that I’ve seen but has eaten a good amount of wet food so hopefully that’s ok?

Our BetBet only drinks from a glass on the fire hearth Grin

He is lovely, my 19 year old girl likes sleeping in my wardrobe, she feels safe in there. On the occasion I have woken her up she doesn't know what day it is or where the hell she is so I try not to wake her up when she is sleeping.

Sharing some more photos from today - he’s still not keen on going downstairs, but then why would he when he has a horde of adoring minions coming to dote on him 😂

That is a very smug smile in the last picture!

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/07/2020 21:53

It’s very early days. Why lift a paw if you don’t have to?.

Supersimkin2 · 12/07/2020 21:57

He is a real Star stunner Star - such a handsome gentleman. Congratulations on your new job Flowers

SparklingLime · 12/07/2020 23:05

Adorable!!

Guiltypleasures001 · 13/07/2020 03:22

Hi op

Did I miss you saying what his name is ?

WorrisomeHeart · 13/07/2020 06:06

Well he woke me up at 2am to go exploring downstairs. Had a great old time but is reluctant to repeat the experience now that noisy kids are there.

His name is Bobo - we’ve not changed it because it feels like he’s a bit old for those kind of adjustments 😂

Oh he is lovely and defintiely has settled in!

We have/had an older cat from a rescue. She spent a couple of years with us, then when our elderly neighbour started feeding her salmon she decamped and moved house! She comes back often just to check in and make sure she is still welcome (always!) and when our neighbour goes away or to hospital he brings her back over with her
little suitcase of toys.

EachandEveryone · 13/07/2020 11:31

Gorgeous lad and hes so robust compared to my neighbours whos that age.

WorrisomeHeart · 13/07/2020 11:48

Vet has given him a once over - apparently he has some teeth that need sorting and a possible mild heart murmur but is otherwise ok. We have drops for his conjunctivitis and have been told he ‘is lean for his size’ so he’s going to love being well fed 😂

Well at 14 the teeth are no surprise. They usually do a blood test prior to Geberals anaesthetics to make sure his kidneys are functioning ok. It’s not expensive.

SparklingLime · 13/07/2020 11:56

That’s so lovely! 🐾

Guiltypleasures001 · 13/07/2020 22:46

Ah he is gorgeous and very similar to my boy although mine is twice the width of yours and also a big cat. Ours is approx 13 and we have had him for just over a year and we adore him

RavenT · 14/07/2020 19:09

He is lovely op!! Smile We got a new rescue back in February, he is a young and relatively confident cat, but he spent probably the first couple of weeks upstairs under a bed and only coming out in short bursts.
