Finally today my kitten was delivered by the breeder he is almost 14wks. He has not stopped purring and playing and no sign of sleeping yet Grin. I have taken about 100 photos but only managed to get a few clear ones. Here he is Falkor

Very cute. Enjoy your new furry master 🐱🐈

RedSiam · 05/07/2020 15:01

He is gorgeous! My kitten is almost 14 weeks too. He arrived 2 weeks ago. It is my first cat so if you have any kitten tips I’m all ears. Have you let him explore the whole house yet?

OohKittens · 05/07/2020 15:16

He is very sweet, we already have two ragdolls but this one is a norweigan forest cat named after the luck dragon from neverending story.
@RedSiam no he is only in the living room and I will sleep down here with him until he has settled with the raggies. I've never had the breed before and I can see how different he is to the ragdolls. He is very sweet but it looks like he has been declawed I'm pretty shocked to be honest he is a registered pedigree and I didn't know this happened. What is your cat called, how are you finding it?
He has finally crashed out

Mine is Mittens. He is full on for around 4 hours of the day in bursts then sleeps and cuddles for the rest of it. Eeekkk at declawing is that even a thing? No scratching so far other than the curtains so lots of redirecting to the scratching post going on here. Good luck for the settling.

OohKittens · 05/07/2020 15:30

I just googled it and it's illegal in the uk, I'm going to have a proper examine of his paws later.

OP posts:
crimsonlake · 05/07/2020 15:35

Gosh he looks like he has settled in instantly.
Mine is about 15 months and shows little sign of starting to behave herself, one minute terrorizing everyone the next wanting cuddles.
I read kittens sleep a lot, mine never seemed to sleep at all, always on the lookout for the next thing to play with or annoy.
I would never have thought of sleeping in the same room when a kitten first arrives, although I know some people with dogs do.
I do not think you need expensive toys, one of my cats favourites from a kitten is socks and kitchen foil made in to balls.

anon5000 · 05/07/2020 15:39

I'd report the breeder if he's been declawed.

BeautifulCrazy · 05/07/2020 15:53

That’s disgusting. Poor baby. Definitely report.

dementedpixie · 05/07/2020 15:57

You would see signs of damage if they had been declawed. The claws are maybe just retracted

OohKittens · 05/07/2020 16:12

Once I've cooked dinner I will get a photo of his paws. I noticed something straight away because he was jumping all over the children and carpet but no claws in cstpet sound or catching skin. Hopefully at the worst the have been cut back which I never would have done because I have a brand new cat tree for him with scratching posts and another tree upstairs. I've never cut my cats claws.
He slept for all of 10 mins Grin

Ok so the claws are there! They appear to be cut back but they are there. Thank god for that. Anyway he is adorable and I absolutely love him.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2020 17:58

Oh thank god for that! We got our Bengal in 2009, one of his cousins also got a Bengal and when his wife booked neutering the vet asked if they wanted him declawed too.

Luckily she said no and was horrified.

He is gorgeous. Has he got a favourite human yet?.

OohKittens · 05/07/2020 18:06

No he is just wandering around playing non stop, he has had food, water and a wee (he pooed on the journey from the breeder). One 10 min nap still.
We haven't heard him cry yet but the breed aren't very vocal apparently.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2020 18:10

I hope it’s you, with all we do for them it’s a kick when they prefer someone else.

Dhs parents cat loved the neighbour over the road best!.

OohKittens · 05/07/2020 19:25

@Fluffycloudland77 tell me about it! Both the ragdolls prefer the children, the older boy cat will only go on younger sons lap. I had a lovely cat who sadly died of hcm (it's why I'm fussy about only having a cat who is a registered tested pedigree) and that cat adored me he followed me everywhere. I hope this cat is the same. He has finally settled down

Phew! For finding claws. Sounds like he has settled right in. My kitten is so vocal chats all day long. I asked him to say cheese for a photo yesterday and he did Grin

Ellmau · 05/07/2020 23:23

He's lovely.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/07/2020 15:21

😍😍😍😍😍. Not only is he adorable he's also stunning.
He'll certainly break a lot of lady cats hearts.
Does he walk around with his little kitten tail sticking up in the air. I love the way kittens do that, squeeeeeeeeee.

TroysMammy · 06/07/2020 15:28

He's lovely.

Haribo is a moggie and just turned one and he doesn't use his claws in games or temper. He does bite my legs if I've turfed him out of the bathroom where my plants are but never uses his claws. We call him soft paws.

whenwillthemadnessend · 06/07/2020 15:31

What a beauty

RedSiam · 06/07/2020 15:35

@OohKittens how was your first night?

OohKittens · 06/07/2020 15:47

It was ok, he slept most of the night and spent most of it marching on my face. Today we have discovered he mist definitely has claws! He gets quite nasty when he has a soft toy or a mouse and drags it around growling and hissing. He hasn't slept today yet so I'm hoping he has another calm night. Hows it going with yours @RedSiam

OP posts:
MaryJoAnna · 06/07/2020 16:05

Oh my gosh, he is adorable! I can see why you have named him Falkor, it suits him so well.

Something to bear in mind is that every cat I've known that has been a tree climber has had claws like talons (lots of time on farms with semi-feral cats).

I don't know much about the breed but maybe larger than average strong sharp claws are a genetic thing for NFCs? Maybe the breeder has started him off young to get him used to having his claws clipped so it's not a stressful thing?

I react really badly to cat scratches so my last cat I taught her from day one as a 10 week old kitten to lie upside down on my lap to have her claw tips snipped off. I just used a large pair of nail clippers and she was as good as gold every time.

Might be worth asking the breeder about it? Also don't they grow to be really big cats? So again stronger than average claws needed to get them up those Norwegian pines 🌲

OohKittens · 06/07/2020 16:12

Yes he will grow quite large but slowly usually by age 4. Because of this the breeder said to delay the spay until closer to 8months.

He has a little grey area on his head which most nfc white cats are born with which will disappear usually by age 1.

I think the name definitely suits him it was a toss up between Falkor, figaro or ghost

Going well here but the beard thing makes it tricky to drink or eat. Grin
