Cats and foxes

We have a family of foxes living at the end of our garden/neighbour's garden.

I enjoy seeing them frolicking about, and they don't bother the cats directly, but I suspect that their presence may be stressing the cats.

They have started crapping in the pots on the patio, which they never do - so I'm wondering if the places where they usually go are smelling a bit too foxy for them.

Also, the cats (sisters) are rather more fighty with each other than usual. They enjoy play fights, but their recent fights have been quite fierce. Again, I wonder if that is a sign of stress?

Any thoughts?

Your cats do sound stressed. I’d try to deter the foxes by making them unsettled so they move on. Move garden stuff around, hose down any of their faeces and keep the garden neat and tidy.

My neighbour feed them and they are one of the joys of her life so it might be a struggle, but I'll have to try to make our own garden less attractive to the foxes somehow.

I've heard that human hair deters foxes.

a country fox maybe. an urban one is not easily deterred.

I do have a LOT of hair!

Got a hairdresser's appointment for 10th July so I may have to ask her if I can take it home.

Are you sure it's cat crap on the patio and not fox crap?

Honeyroar · 01/07/2020 14:18

The foxes are probably hissing at the cats if they go near. Is your fence secure and is it see through?

Posted too soon. Can the foxes get in your garden?
