How much does your cat weigh?

My kitten is 10 months old. She has just been spayed and the vet said to give her metacam dose for 2.5 kg weight so I presume that is what she weighs. The vet didn’t comment on her size but to me she looks about half the size of my neighbour’s adult cat. She is lively and healthy in all respects

3.3kg for an adult female cat (spayed but did have kittens). She's quite dinky. If your neighbour's cat is male I think 4-5kg is average, so that sounds about right? If you're worried call the vet and check, I'm sure they won't mind!

MoreSchnitzelPlease · 22/06/2020 17:58

I have two male cats. One weighs just over 6kg, the other weights 4kg.

Has your cat been weighed by the vet recently?

MoreSchnitzelPlease · 22/06/2020 17:59

*weighs.

Now I am imagining my cat weightlifting Grin

Pelleas · 22/06/2020 18:01

My girl is around 3 kg and my boy is around 5.5 kg.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 22/06/2020 18:02

My 11.5 month old was spayed 2 weeks ago. She was 2.75kg. My cat is perfectly formed by dainty. Very delicate features. She has been weighed a few times and is always on the small end of normal.

My other cat is a fat bastard fucker 🤣. 5.5kg. Beast. Not a cat for sure!

Both are normal, so don't worry! Pictures of my dinky dot and beast attached!

dogwithmohican · 22/06/2020 18:02

@MoreSchnitzelPleaseshe was operated on yesterday so I presume they weighed her to decide on the metacam dose - this was for a 2.5kg cat

My last female (Burmese) was a dainty princess of under 3kg I think. Boy cat , neutered as adult, is a 6kg+ giant. There's a wide range of normal.

Vinorosso74 · 22/06/2020 18:05

Ours was 4.15kg at his MOT in March. He is quite fluffy om his tummy so looks a bit chunkier. Vet said he was a perfect weight.

dogwithmohican · 22/06/2020 18:05

@ThisMustBeMyDream -I feel happier to hear that you have a 11.5 month old who is a similar weight. I worry that she will get beaten up by the bruiser cat next door.

One of mine weighs around 8.5KG and the other around 7kg but they are male Savannahs so not unusual - a lot depends on breed as well as age

fitflopqueen · 22/06/2020 18:28

Our moggy is about 4kg, he is 13 now and you can tell he is getting old as he doesn't hold onto his weight well although he is as fit as a flea and is an excellent mouser which seems to keep the vet away.

Kenworthington · 22/06/2020 18:51

At last weigh in colin aged 4, was around 7.8kg he’s bloody huge

Moggies, litter mates, Girlcat around 4.5kg & Boycat around 6kg. Both "perfect" according to the vet, and lean & rangy in build just quite big.

My DSis's girl was about 3.5kg, and a real fatty - circular! I used to go round & be surprised every time at how small her cat was compared to mine.

Jenjenn · 22/06/2020 19:09

Our tabby is just under 6 kg. The vet always comments on him being a fine size boy.

HelpMeh · 22/06/2020 19:12

I've got a 6.5kg beast and I think the other is 4kg.

Amicompletelyinsane · 22/06/2020 19:13

I have a 3kg female. Males are, 3.5,3.8, 4, 4.5 and 7kg. I think for your young female cat that seems fine

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 22/06/2020 19:15

She is about 4.1kg normally and she’s a bit overweight as she isn’t very big.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 22/06/2020 19:15

You can weigh them yourself quite easily at home btw, just weigh yourself and then subtract your own weight from the weight of you holding the cat.

Mine's 5.6 kilos he's pretty chunky.

dogwithmohican · 22/06/2020 21:29

i feel reassured that she is a normal size.

My female cat was just over 8lbs a few months ago but she has definitely gotten bigger and put on muscle etc. She was at last vet visit just between medium and large so a small large. She's a decent size which I'm glad about if she needs to defend herself. But she's been spayed etc and seems to be the queen of her territory 😂

IllustriousToad · 22/06/2020 21:41

I have 2 boys, both 3 years old. One is 7.6kg and the other is 6.5kg. They're both big but their mum was a mainecoon so they're not overweight, so you definitely need to consider the breed when working out if their weight is okSmile

OohKittens · 22/06/2020 22:01

My male is over 10kg he is a huge ragdoll. My female ragdoll is far smaller at 6kg. But these are within weight range for the breed.

QueenCT · 22/06/2020 22:07

Male, 3.4kg who eats me out of house and home but has a metabolism I can only dream of HmmGrin

Jj2431 · 22/06/2020 22:55

My 8 year old female cat is 4kg

Bargebill19 · 22/06/2020 23:00

Heavy enough that I can’t roll over in bed at night. ...
