Hi all, we’re going away for 3 weeks in July and are looking for a house sitter who can also look after our two cats. Usually we’ve just had a neighbour or friend look in onde a day when we’re gone for a week, but since this is longer and none of our usual friends is available we’re thinking of hiring someone - the friend of a friend who has a bad living situation and could use some extra cash. I have no idea what to offer. Thoughts? Thanks!

I usually pay around £15 a day for my cat sitter to do two visits, am and pm, that include food/water refresh and 30 minutes of play. It's about £8 for one visit a day. I live in SE England. If your friend is going to tidy away post, open/close curtains, put the bins out, too then maybe a little more?

I pay £15 for two visits. Though if I was away for longer than 48 hours they go to the cattery.

We’ve never had someone stay in the house, usually have cat sitter do one visit each day (about half an hour, food, water, litter, play with puss) which is £10. I’d just enquire at a few local cat sitting businesses, I’m sure they’d give you a rough idea of what all the options would cost!

I am in London. Our sitter charges £10 for a visit once a day. I imagine it’s £20 for two a day. Then the agency charges us a fee for arranging it which is a bit of a joke as they are never in and I always text the sitter to see if she is available and then sometimes both of us try to get hold of the agency. But I imagine they insure her. I think she spends a little while playing with the cat because she is just lovely like that. I used to have a friend come and stay for a few days and gave her £15 a day but not idea if that was fair or not. Other times we had friends stay needed a break from renovations and didn’t pay them.

We pay £7 for one visit or £10 for two. That includes feeding/changing the litter tray/giving a twice daily pill and playtime. She sends me videos and has messaged a few times during lockdown because she misses them Smile

I pay £15 a day for 2 visits. I get photos and videos sent and cat sitter will bring bins through. She has also been known to Hoover for me.

£15 for two visits per day to feed and play with three cats. Our catsitter is a vet nurse, so can also give meds.
