Green diarrhea!

Hi,
My kitten has had issues with his stomach since we got him about 6 weeks ago. Initially as soon as he got him he had diarrhea, he was dumped outside a vets at about 12 weeks old so don’t know his history, the vet treated him with antibiotics and something else for gardia and it literally went away the day after he started his medicine. She also put him on the Royal Canin super expensive food. Before he was eating dry perfect fit biscuits but he was barely eating then now he scoffs the new food straight down and loves it so I decided to keep feeding him that as it likes it. Anyway when he stopped his medication the diarrhea came back.... vet said to collect 3 stool samples and will test them. I collected one and then it stopped so decided not to get the others as he seemed better. He had his second lot of jabs last weds and since then it’s come back but this morning it was green with streaks of blood in it. The blood is from his bum cos you can see where it’s sore and bleeding. I will call the vet again tomorrow and start collecting the 3 samples again but in the mean time I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of green poo?
He is well in himself, playing, happy, he is really hungry all the time but was very skinny when we got him so he could just be catching up?
He has been wormed so I don’t think he has worms. The vet treated him for gairdia as a precaution but I’m not sure he had it. His poo doesn’t smell horrendous and he’s only going once a day.
He will eat anything he finds though.... literally anything!
Yesterday I found him nibbling the washing up sponge!! He also ate through the packaging of a loaf of bread and was eating a slice the other day!
Everything is put away now but he will be in the kitchen sink licking it whenever he can 🙄
Anyone have any idea what’s going with him? I’m feeding him one and half pouches split over 3 meals....
thanks!

I have no experience of this at all. I'm wondering if it's a parasite or infection? Is his food wet or dry? Some cats don't do well on wet food. If he's a little scavengerGrin, that could be the cause. Hope you manage to find the problem.

It’s wet food... he loves it so don’t really want to change it at the mo. The antibiotics the vet gave him cleared it straight away.... or the other medication or it could have been the change of his food, cos we did them all at the same time it’s hard to know which one worked! As soon as he stopped them it came back though so god knows! Vet said sometimes it’s hard to find anything in a stool sample but hopefully when I get them they can find something and treat it.
Even though it doesn’t seem to be bothering him at all it’s just a worry cos he was so skinny and small when he was found....

If you have a dishwasher run it at the highest temperature, if you wash up use a separate sponge for his dishes etc and wash in really hot water. Put everything away when your not using it. Washing up sponges contain a lot of bacteria but I’ve seen silicone ones online that look much easier to clean.

I’m wondering if the immune response to his jabs was enough to weaken his immune system temporarily and his bowel condition came back.

Could you feed him plain chicken breast for a couple of days and see if that helps? You can boil them really quickly & store chopped up. If you buy frozen check there’s no added salt.
