Is my kitten a boy or girl?

Hi, i have just bought a kitten home and was told that its a girl. However, after looking at some pictures and looking at my own kitten, i think it may actually be a boy. Does anyone know an easy way to tell the difference?

Kitten is 8 weeks old and grey in colour. I would add pictures but i'm not sure how.

Can you post a picture?

carexfairex · 11/06/2020 01:49

Ignore me. I completely missed the last part.

I'm tired Blush

There are lots of websites and videos if you google “ how to tell the sex of a kitten”

I'll try and add a picture as soon as i am able to. Apparently since im new to mumsnet, i cant post pictures for 48hrs...

What colour is it?.

Sally99 · 11/06/2020 09:43

Cats are notoriously difficult to sex early on. I thought I had a boy and a girl until I took them to the vet and was told that the girl was developing testicles!

IndiaMay · 11/06/2020 09:47

They are difficult. We bought a girl at 8 weeks, had her 4 weeks (visited the vet once in that time). Then on second vet visit were told she was actually a he. Luckily he has a unisex name.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2020 09:53

Where’s the kitten from?.

Costacoffeeplease · 11/06/2020 10:17

The boys have a space between anus and penis for the testicles to grow, and a more round hole for peeing. The girls have a longer thin hole. I say the boys have a full stop and the girls an exclamation mark, if that helps

Okay, i have tried uploading a couple of pics onto photobucket.. hopefully the link will work!

I would guess boy from those photos, OP.

Our last litter made it easy - all tortoiseshells and therefore female, barring the one little chap with the Giant Fluffy Kitten-balls.

GuppytheCat · 11/06/2020 14:54

S/he is very gorgeous either way.

vanillandhoney · 11/06/2020 15:26

From those photos I would also say boy.

Fazk · 11/06/2020 15:40

I agree, when comparing to pictures on the internet it does seem like it might be a boy. I messaged the seller again and she is adamant that its a girl.. i asked why she she was so sure that its a girl and she responded "there are no balls" Smile!

I've been reading about it and as a previous poster above has said, the testicles dont develop until they are a bit older. I'm guessing the vet will be able to to tell us for sure (she or 'he' is booked in for a checkup and vaccinations next week).

I know! Happy with him/her either way Smile

Amicompletelyinsane · 11/06/2020 15:55

I'm a vet nurse. That's a boy. He's got room for his little balls to grow.

Fazk · 11/06/2020 16:14

Thank you for all the responses!
At least i can decide on a name now!

Boys are cheaper to neuter.
