Cat Insurance

We are looking adopt some cats of someone who can no longer look after them. We have therefore started to look at insurance. Naturally they all ask whether the animal has any pre existing conditions, what happens if you do not know the history of the animal?

You say no. As long as you are genuinely not aware of any.

I had the same issue. I adopted an elderly cat from a shelter but she’d been living as a stray so I had no background and didn’t even know how old she was. I was just honest with the insurance company and everything was fine.

@Toddlerteaplease @NoMoreFlowers thank you both. I think I'm probably overthinking it because this is the first time I'v not had a cat from a kitten. They are still young, less than 2 years I believe though I'm not sure the exact date, so I'm fairly confident that they are healthy. I guess it's just a worry in the back of my mind that I'll pay for insurance, something will happen to them and the insurance will say oh this problem must have been here before you started the policy. I think I'll call them rather than do it online.

On the insurance form, you put how long you've owned them for. So it's not an issue.

My pair were ex-feral, so all I could tell the insurance company was that they had been fit & well while at the rescue and no knowledge of their first year of life.
