I want the real Harry back!

He's not been the same since he went to the vets, I'm going to call them and ask for my real cat back!

Last Wednesday Harry caught a mouse. He’d been in the garden all evening and when I went back into the living room I noticed he’d got one of his ‘toys’ out. When I looked more closely I realised it was actually a real dead mouse!

While DH and I were looking at the mouse Harry grabbed it and ran outside with it and was rolling around throwing it in the air. Every time we tried to grab him he picked up the mouse and ran off. Eventually we got him away from it and DH got the mouse on a shovel. In the end we left it in the alley beside the house as fox food.

Sunday's offering was a stag beetle. Luckily we managed to rescue this and put it in the neighbour's garden but I'm worried as these things happen in threes. Next door feed the birds, what if a pigeon misjudges it's landing?!

Here he is looking smug after the mouse incident.

Ours is catching things too after thinking he was a rubbish hunter. We did have a mouse earlier in the year but it had a broken leg (easy target).
Last week was a baby mouse (alive); couple of weeks before was a female blackbirdsl (deceased). He did bring home a chicken nugget type thing in between the bird and baby mouse.

We had a live rat in our house a couple of weeks ago. It was a vicious little thing, although it must have been petrified, so I don't blame it. It ended up hiding in a crevice of our treadmill. Great fun trying to coax it out the front door with a 1 metre ruler no way I was getting closer. I finally managed to drop an ice cream tub over it and slid a plastic folder underneath it, then carried the whole thing outside and let it out.

Then, Mara upped her game and brought in a fledgling Dunnock. I had to drive 15 miles to our nearest wildlife hospital with it.

I’m SO glad dcat hasn’t figured out how to get over the fence yet lol

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/06/2020 15:29

I don't want to worry you Mummypig2020 but they don't have to get out of the garden! Our garden is cat proofed so Harry's little spree consists of anything that's wandered in!

Ahh! Our garden is literally just grass and brick wall. We live in a new build so nothing exciting in there yet!

CocoR · 03/06/2020 18:10

We've had a rat, a blue tit and a crow this week! 😩

I love that photo of Harry PinksparklyPussyCat. It is definitely Portrait of a Successful Mouser. My friends' cat was run over. Luckily he survived but he had a terrible time recuperating in a cage for weeks. When he was allowed out again (he is such an outdoor cat) and caught his first post RTA mouse, they claimed he did a victory lap round the patio!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/06/2020 10:53

Well he's behaving himself so far, although he did make an attempt to catch a sparrow the other day. Thankfully he made so much noise getting through the cat flap the bird had flown!

Well he’s having fun isn’t he?.

Lougle · 06/06/2020 11:10

We found a tail and something unidentified this morning, so I suspect our cat had her wicked way in the night.

runningon · 06/06/2020 11:25

The one advantage of my cat getting elderly is she doesn't bring me daily presents anymore!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 06/06/2020 11:56

Harry's no youngster, he's 15 @runningon!

The weather isn't great he today so he's relaxing. He's a fair weather hunter!
