Obligatory photo attached Grin

I don't post in the Litter Tray much as our resident cats (aged 5 and 4) have never caused us any problems really so I've had no real need to. But this is the first time we've had three cats and the kitten is SO cute that I just have to share a photo of him!

Older cats and dog were uneasy at first. 5yo male cat and kitten have played together this morning though!

This is Toby!

I love black cats! All ours look so different and have such individual personalities too Grin

Whenever I've introduced pets (and this includes the dog) I've just brought them in and they've gotten on with it! We're on day four of having Toby now and they've all been fine - the cats have played together as a trio and in separate pairs and Toby plays with the dog too.

Maybe I've just been really lucky but all this advice seems to be very modern and I don't think it necessarily makes any difference to the end result. Most people don't have the time or space to do introductions that last several weeks!

You don't have to need to! There's a long running chat thread on there where we discuss cat antics and other stuff too. I have no idea how to link, but it's title is something about Cap'n V and Paws being rulers of the world, or something like that 😂.

Pop "over" and join in - kitten antics are loved by all 🥰.

IncrediblySadToo · 02/06/2020 13:25

They're all gorgeous! I'm glad they've all made friends!

My friends German Shepard & their black kitten were firm friends. Usually found snuggled up together.

They also played really rough at times, a little alarming to watch, but never once hurt each other.

Yep, our beagle and the girl cat play rough all the time but there's no malice there at all. They've never once each other, it's all play - despite the barking and squeaking going on!

He is a real beauty. I had three cats and didn't follow the usual introductory rules. Think it depends on the order maybe, as I had a girl first, who then mothered the new boy kitten. Then when they were getting on (over ten) got another girl aged about two. Just put her basket down, no adverse reaction from the others so let her out! Then her and boy cat had a play around while the other one waltzed off. I think more girls would have been fine but I get the feeling boy cat wouldn't have welcomed older males. A kitten possibly.

Pastilles · 02/06/2020 13:58

Ahhh too cute

EngagedAgain · 02/06/2020 15:17

And btw, the other two are stunning!

vanillandhoney · 02/06/2020 15:18

Thank you!

I'm glad I'm not the only who's ignored all the usual "rules". I've always just let them get on with it, to be honest. Never been an issue.

He's lovely. My old boy was called Toby so love the name.

DH hates the name - he refers to him as ratbag or, if he's feeling generous, the tiny one Grin

He's so sweet!

This is Hector, we've had him for 2 weeks.

Beautiful puss cats

vanillandhoney · 03/06/2020 13:01

Oh Hector is gorgeous - he looks very cheeky though Grin

I'm pleased to say Toby has settled right in. Him and our 5yo male are now the best of friends and he follows his new big brother everywhere!

Hectors very cute, I love his little bootees.

EngagedAgain · 03/06/2020 16:49

It's fun isn't it introducing a new cat, if they get on that is! I love the way they interact, and it's great fun watching them. If I won the lottery I'm sure I would keep collecting them.

Looks like Toby has firmly got his paws under the table! Actually the first picture looks like they are a proper family, mum, dad and baby. Aww, how cute..

vanillandhoney · 04/06/2020 13:20

He's settled in so well considering we've only had him six days! Our big boy is so grumpy normally but he's so good with Toby.

I came down to the toilet in the middle of the night and they were sitting together and following each other everywhere! It's super cute.

Both pics look like they are family, well they are now aren't they. Purrlock is the one that's more upright? Job to see as I'm on phone. He looks like he's keeping watch over the others. I doubt I will have any more cats (or dogs). I've never had my own dog, my parents did, as well as a couple of cats. I still miss mine, and think how nice it must be now to be able to take lots of pictures. I have a few but they aren't great.

Yeah, Purrlock is the largest out of the three - he's 5yo. Then Layla is the middle sized one and she's 4, then Toby the baby! Then we have Archie the beagle who's 2.5 and very much outnumbered bless him!

But cats are so much easier than dogs, not to mention cheaper. I'd love another dog but we don't really have the time or space sadly. One day!
