I'm devastated.

My 11.5 year old boy. I couldn't even be with him while they did it because of covid.

Heartbroken.

So so sad. I'm sorry OP. That must have been so hard. He knew he was cherished and loved. Do you have any pictures of your gorgeous boy?

Bowerbird5 · 29/05/2020 23:47

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. We are looking after my daughter’s cat who is nineteen and she hasn’t been well. We have had a few visits but he said the quality of life is what we need to think about and that next visit should be her last. She is a dear little cat and we have enjoyed having her and I too will devastated. It is very difficult as DD is the other side of the world at present.DD loves her cat dearly and will be so sad. I think she was more upset about leaving the cat than leaving me!
What colour was your beautiful boy?

queenjaneappro · 30/05/2020 00:11

Very sorry for your loss 💐

Heidns · 30/05/2020 01:14

The vet sent me this just before they .. i don't even know what words to use.. killed him.. put him to sleep.. before he died alone. Oh i never imagined this pain over a pet.

Had to put him to sleep

He was beautiful, what is his name?

They didn't kill him, they put him to sleep and it was to save him further pain and suffering. He wasn't alone, the vet and nurse would have comforted him in his last moments. It's a very gentle and quick process, I put my boy to sleep a few weeks ago and he wasn't in any pain or scared at all.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/05/2020 06:54

He was beautiful and I’m sure the vets would have been very gentle and loving to him. I’m sorry you lost him so young too.

The house is very empty without them isn’t it.

SpillTheTeaa · 30/05/2020 07:32

Oh he is beautiful.
The vets would have made sure he was comfortable and stayed with him until he went to be free and play with the other kitties up there. Thanks

Heidns · 30/05/2020 08:22

His name was Gonzo. Woke up crying. His sister is going round the house looking for him.

I am sorry for your loss.

Every pet who crosses the rainbow bridge without their family being present is comforted and reassured. We talk to them, I personally tell them that their family loves them. We treat them just as we would our own pet with compassion and respect.

Heidns · 30/05/2020 10:29

Thanks thats a little comforting.

Sorry for your loss op . A month today I had my boy pts. We have his db who has become a very vocal stay at home dcat now. Previously they roamed together. He is still eating and now sleeps in with dd instead of with his db in the utility...
We are making a memorial in the garden today with painted rocks...

This bits very hard and there’s no getting away from it. You obviously loved him very much & if you spoiled him while he was here you have nothing to feel guilty about.

Hamsterian · 30/05/2020 18:50

It’s absolute agony when they go, my heart goes out to you 🌸🌸🌸🌈🌈🌈

Vinorosso74 · 30/05/2020 20:51

So sorry you lost your gorgeous boy. It is heartbreaking. We had to have a cat PTS overnight once. He was at the 24 hour hospital following surgery and the vet called me to say he was in respiratory arrest; anyway they had to PTS. I was devastated I never got to say goodbye. I then did think at least the vet was the one we had seen over the previous months with him so she knew he was loved by us and was always very kind to him (she used her cat as a blood donor for him) and us.
When we had our last cat PTS we were with her along with the vet and vet nurse who were both very comforting towards her so I am sure the staff were lovely with your boy.
Lone what you said gave me a lump in my throat.
