DH just too this photo of our two cats patiently waiting for us to open the back door even though they have been in and out of the flaming catflap all day. Well they were sitting nicely .....

One of mine could use it to go out, but never in for some reason. Basically with 3 I have spent half my life letting them in and out.

RandomMess · 22/05/2020 23:28

Clearly got the Birman bravery and brains, only the size from the Tom 😂 they have a bit of a look of Maine Coon about them but now you said Birman I can totally see it!!'

TroysMammy · 23/05/2020 08:32

IceQueen01 they are beauties and the photo of them both looking at the cat flap is classic.

TroysMammy · 23/05/2020 08:39

She's lovely too. Your new puss is a black and white like Troy was except he had a bit more white on his face. I love black and whites but I couldn't have another because Troy was so special.

When I moved into this house, there was a cat flap. I hadn't had one in my previous house, and my cats were rescues which I had had for only 6 months at the time. On the first day they were allowed to mingle with the cats who already lived here (after a week of making faces at each other through the conservatory door), we left the cats to it and popped out for 20 minutes. When we came back, there wasn't a cat in the house! Turns out, they had had a cat flap previously and knew how to use it. Very handy.

We got a pup the following year and he adored racing across the kitchen to bat the cat on the bum as it went out the cat flap. He also then realised that if he was outside and wanted back in (or vice versa) he could use the flap as a door knocker. Both cats are gone now Sad and we have a second pup who has learned from his big brother to knock on the cat flap to come in.

One of ours sits on the garden table outside my study demanding to be let in rather than using the cat door which is all of three feet away.

@Icequeen01
She's a real beauty, in the picture she looks long sleek and lean. I'm sure the boys love her really! They are probably letting her think she rules the roost! I had a boy and two girls. Got them at various times and just introduced them straight away, with no problems. I'm not sure my boy would have been so keen on another male though, he was a big softy but quite territorial. I love the way cats interact with each other, and dogs (when they are happy with dogs that is). It's great you gave her a new home, it's obvious she wants to be there!

Icequeen01 · 23/05/2020 10:53

@EngagedAgain She is very settled and the boys do occasionally try and make friends but she is a bit sparky! Archie and Angus are incredibly social cats. When I first let them out after they were neutered I was worried there would be a fight over territory with another neighbour's young neutered male cat who had made our garden his own. As you can see from the attached photo I needn't have worried!

I've also attached the photo which @TroysMammy mentioned which was taken before Bubbles came to live with us. She was desperate to come in and the boys were too terrified to go out!

Oh, they are lovely 😻

Iwantacookie · 23/05/2020 11:42

No cat flap yet but I quite often have the kitchen window open when cooking. Cats can figure out to come in through the open window but apparently cant go out of it Confused despite getting shoved through the window to show them how it works. Nope they'll jump back in the window and meow at the back door.
They remind me of flys not able to see an open window Grin

WotsitWiggle · 23/05/2020 11:55

Mine can come in through the cat flap but not out, for some daft reason. Even coming in, she bats at it with her paw until the magnet gives way, then sticks her head in the gap. It can take several attempts.

Icequeen01 · 23/05/2020 13:20

It's funny how sometimes cats can look at you with wise old eyes and you feel like you could almost have a conversation with them. Then you read posts like these and realise they can actually be quite dim 😀 but we still love them!

Yes, I think you once posted a slightly different picture of them all on the shed roof? I'm on a phone and the picture won't enlarge, but the other picture is one of my old time favourites - very cute!

Icequeen01 · 23/05/2020 16:28

@EngagedAgain I think it was probably this photo I posted previously. It's one of my favourites as well!

Oh I love Archie and Angus. They look like two nerdy brothers who fancy the hottest girl in high school but are too scared to approach her 😹

Hamsterian · 23/05/2020 21:40

They are gorgeous! So sweet, how they are sitting there looking very innocent and patient.
Flamingo, that little face peeking into the window 🤣

EngagedAgain · 24/05/2020 07:10

Yes that's the one. One of the very best photos of cats, if not THE best! It's so endearing.
