Cat cage rest

HI. I'm looking for any advice anyone has about cats on cage rest. My old man jasper managed to break his hind foot and so far has been on cage rest for just under 6 weeks. He did have a splint on when I brought him home but he kept attacking his leg and me when I tried to calm him, so the vets have left him to heal by himself for 6 weeks. I've tried making the cage as comfy as possible. He's fine in being himself but he meows and howls all day and night. At first I thought it was pain but it turns out it's just him wanting out of the cage. He has no interest in toys or catnip and I can't give him hard treats as he doesn't have many teeth left to crunch them 😂. Any advice would be sooooo great right now.

Poor cat, that must be really rough on him. Have you tried Feliway spray, Zylkene tablets or the vet could advise on whether Fluoxetine might be an option. Is he allowed limited exercise? If yes you could take him out with a harness and lead.

@Booboostwo that's what I was thinking of trying next to see if it worked on just settling him down thanks :) he's not allowed to exercise yet as he has nothing supporting the leg. It's very awkward at the minute as the vets don't want to do a scaffold as they can't have him in every week due to the pandemic and hes broke all 4 toes so with him not like the splint on he's being an awkward bogger aha.
