I'm raging as some neighbours got a kitten about 6 months ago, that kitten is now howling the streets down morning, noon and night on the hunt for a male. So many big toms are now hanging around and it's causing fights.

Wtf is wring with people? Why would you get a kitten and not get it neutered. Fair enough, it's not normal times and they may not have been able to get to the vets but keep the cat indoor ffs.

Fucking idiots.

They’ll sell the kittens for tax free profit. I wonder how many litters you can pass off as her first “she got out JUST before she was booked to be spayed” while to poor cat sits there with a uterus thin as tissue paper.

Hmrc should investigate people selling baby animals on gumtree etc.

They had the patio windows open, they would have heard the cat's at it. - all the neighbours did! It's not nice to see to be honest, she's a really small cat, looks Siamese to me and certainly as vocal as a Siamese.

Round here the cat rescue centres are overflowing, they don't even answer the phone as they can't take any more in. Makes me fucking furious that these ignorant dickheads are adding to the problem. I can see a war on the horizon.

I hear ya. Ignoramuses they are. We currently have lots of unneutered males around here (not strays either). One is particularly noisy, he seems to meow with every step. There is obviously a lot of spraying going on and a few altercations.
Our lad is neutered and fortunately they don't seem to see him as a threat, in fact the noisy one wants to be his buddy. However, ours started a fight with one last week.

I know ive just put someone straight looking for a kitten on facebook. Its so annoying. Mind you, are the rescues rehoming?

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/05/2020 13:47

I think CH is.

Vinorosso74 · 10/05/2020 13:54

Yes a few are as well as Celia Hammond, Cats Protection are also trialling from 4 centres currently, Mayhew are and various smaller rescues. Not sure about Battersea or RSPCA

EdithWeston · 10/05/2020 13:58

Vets aren't doing neuterings at the moment, and no word on when the policy will change.

Yes females need to be kept in for now

Vinorosso74 · 10/05/2020 14:15

I believe the restrictions around neutering have been relaxed.but it could vary between practices. These people sound like they want their kitten to have kittens sadly.

BovaryX · 11/05/2020 16:33

OP,
I don't have any advice, but I think it's really squalid behaviour. Aren't vets in the UK still neutering? If they are allowing her out, it's because they don't care if she gets pregnant. People like this are beyond squalid. Indefensible when shelters are full of unwanted cats.

userxx · 12/05/2020 08:52

@BovaryX They absolutely do not care. Why get a pet when you have no intention of doing the right thing by it, it's pretty basic isn't it. Ignorant to the core.

There’s an underclass in this country, to them this is acceptable behaviour.
