Cat flap in bedroom door?

Since we lost her brother 5 months ago, his 3 year old sister likes to sleep with me - they both used to sleep downstairs in the kitchen/conservatory with a cat flap to the garden and I’d shut the kitchen door so they couldn’t come upstairs. I didn’t have the heart to lock her downstairs on her own after he was killed and she has been a huge comfort to me so I don’t mind sleeping with her. The problem is I hate sleeping with the bedroom door open! Have to keep it open so she can access litter tray/water/food downstairs if she needs it. I’m considering putting some sort of opening or even a cat flap in the bedroom door so she can come and go and I can still have the door shut! Has anyone done this?

I can't see any reason why you shouldn't.
