Feeding mum after kittens have weaned

I can't find any information that tells you how much food I should be giving to the mum cat now that the kittens are 8 weeks and no longer feeding off her.
We were feeding on demand when she was lactating but the kittens dont feed from her now and she is still asking for food constantly.
She is not fat at all but I'm concerned I can't tell if she's hungry or just begging.
Are you supposed to just go straight back to her usual 3 pouches a day?

No direct experience myself but I would think a gradual reduction would be better. Perhaps ask vets for advice.
You acquired this pregnant cat didn't you and are keeping the kittens? Have you managed to book her in for spaying yet?

She's not booked in for spaying yet as no vet here will do it as it's not an emergency.
She is not going out at all though.
Kittens are doing great and I will get them done too as soon as they are old enough. I'm booking mum in as soon as she's allowed so she can start going out again.

How many males do you have?

Hamsterian · 03/05/2020 11:50

Her body will still be depleted from pregnancy and nursing, so if she has no other issues, I would feed her as much as she wants for the time being. Maybe two pouches a day and biscuits always available?

fluffy 3 males 1 female

@Hamsterian that's a good idea about biscuits too. I think I'll do that

If you manage to get mum done get the female kitten done if she’s big enough.

You don’t want a teen pg on your hands.
