Repeated cut/wound on cat's neck?

Back in February DCat got what looked like a big cut on her neck, there was no blood but it looked like a slice through her flesh (and very red). I took her to the vet who was stumped (said she assumed Dcat had got injured somehow whilst out and about) given that there was no blood but as a precaution gave me some antibacterial gel to apply for a week or so. Cut to today and DCat has the same "wound" in the same place. Does anyone have a clue what this could be? She doesn't seem bothered by it (and it is clean but a deep, red "slice" in the flesh near her neck again).

Have you checked the cat flap? Or any other small space she squeezes through?

Is there anything sharp at the bottom of your garden fencing where she squeezes through?

I agree, it sounds like a repetitive contact injury. Cats can be incredibly stoic about pain.

OP, I had this with my cat. I turned out that there was a nail that I hadn't noticed sticking out of the back gate and he was repeatedly jumping over it and catching his neck. Removed nail and it's not happened since. Very similar injury.

I suspect I will never get to the bottom of this - she wanders far and wide in the neighbourhood so I have no idea where she is squeezing into (I only hear where she has been when she sets of neighbours' alarms by getting into garages etc!).

Could there be a foreign body in it, preventing it from healing fully.
