We seem to have several new Persian inmates of the litter tray. So show me them all! These are my two reprobates!

samlh what a fantastic colour!

Toddler knows my views on her gorgeous girls both past & present.

samlh · 15/04/2020 15:45

@Allergictoironing We originally went to see his brother who is fully ginger. But he came bounding up to us and his brother wouldn't move from his spot on the sofa. We fell in love with him and the breeder said that the cat picks its owner and he definitely picked us.

I've gone from having dogs around all my life when I lived with my mum to wanting multiple cats who will follow me round and love me!

Allergictoironing · 15/04/2020 16:14

Stick with the Oriental breeds then, or a Maine Coon, as cats may or may not choose to love you but with Orientals tend to have a higher chance of being "people" cats.

Or in Cheddars case. Just a massive floosey. She loves men!

I have foiled a plot to cat nap cheddar! My friend. Who as an archbishop should really know better about coveting cats. Wants to bring his grumpy Persian exotic down to my groomer. As she desperately needs a good sort out. I think he plans to accidentally take the wrong cat home again!

I love Persians 😍
I am trying to convince DH we need a doll faced Persian for our second cat but he wants a snowshoe (like his last cat) or a Bengal.
I’m a real sucker for a long luscious coat.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/04/2020 19:50

I've never quite worked out what a doll faced persian is. They really are lovely cats. Or beanbags that breathe.

‘Doll faced’ is a Persian without the smushed face.
Chinchilla Persians are usually doll faced.

‘Doll faced’ Persian.

Persians have lovely personalities!
From a health/welfare point of view I'd encourage people to buy the doll-faced type if buying from a breeder

Toddlerteaplease · 17/04/2020 03:00

Yes. Definitely go for doll face rather than the over bred smushed look. My two have very open faces. But some of them look terrible. I was shocked at the supreme cat show, when I saw the winning Persian. His face was far too squished.

@frostedviolets, Bengals can be high maintenance. They need a lot of human company and interaction.

That said I’d never have another breed now.

frostedviolets · 17/04/2020 09:08

Human company and interaction is no issue, I’m here pretty much all day!
And DH only works part time.
We have a cat already too for company, and a dog.

I like all cats but I prefer a more placid temperament.
Persians, Ragdolls, Birmans etc.

Our own cat is very gentle/tolerant but she’s quite lively and playful!
So they’d probably be a good match but a more lazy cat is more up my street personally

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/04/2020 09:12

A lot of bengals prefer to be only cats, not all of them, but they can bully other cats and will wee in the house if their not happy.

We bought a different scratching post for ours once and he sprayed on the bed. I had to return it to pets at home & exchange it.

Veterinari · 17/04/2020 09:18

I'm with you @frostedviolets I like the lazy ones - see way too many Bengals with problem behaviours !

Ragdolls are lovely. Well bred non-extreme exotic shorthairs and Persians are lovely (though the grooming does put me off the Persians a bit)

At present I just have a DSH mog acquired as a stray kitten. She's a nice compromise
