Handhold please! Missing cat

Just posting for support really. My little cat is 2 years old, and loves to be outside. She's been spayed and has a microchip, we don't have a cat flap but she's happy to go out whenever she can. Usually comes in by dinner time. Last night she didn't come home, despite frantic biscuit tin shaking.

We live in a terrace and she normally just garden hops between our gardens and the gardens to the next road backing onto us. We're middle of a long line of terraces, and she is such a friendly little thing that she comes when called (mostly). She's never been out all night before and I'm so worried. I left the window open all night just in case and nothing.

I've posted on Nextdoor, Facebook and Animal Search, praying she just saunters through the door Sad. She's in soooo much trouble when (if) she gets in!

Missing her terribly. I'm sure I'm overreacting and she's having a whale of a time somewhere, but I'm so worried.

Have a handhold.

Does she have a litter tray? If she does it can be a good idea to put it outside. If she has got lost the scent will guide her home. Her bedding or even hoover bag dust will also have scent she can follow if there's no litter tray.

Could you put notes through your neighbours' doors asking them to check sheds, garages etc.

Also, searching at night is good when it is very quiet. (although with lockdown it might be quiet at day now too). Your voice will carry better at night and you'll hear if she meows at all.

I hope she comes home very soon.

jammydodgerz · 14/04/2020 08:18

Thanks @Lindy2 - I'll try the litter tray today. I was calling her all evening but no joy - though it was very windy here so not sure if the wind was stopping my voice carrying Sad

It's quite normal for cats to stay out all night. I'm sure she'll be back. Thinking of you. Please update us.

I hope she's home soon!!

It's horrible when they don't come home, but mostly they saunter in with a 'and?' Look on their faces demanding to bed fed!!

Put some notes through doors asking people to please check their sheds (and beds!!)

My boy had slipped into someone's garage once and got himself stuck 🙄. The girl
Was rather fond of the neighbours white bed linen 🙄🙄

I'm glad she's back.

She's obviously had some fun exploring!

Oldestchild90s · 14/04/2020 20:18

Great news.. but more importantly... was she sorry???!

jammydodgerz · 14/04/2020 20:30

Does this face look apologetic? Grin

So glad she's back!

mineofuselessinformation · 14/04/2020 20:41

No, she doesn't look the least bit sorry!
In fact, I think she's very unimpressed with being inside instead of hunting....
She has very unusual markings, so would be easily found if she wanders off again.
In my view, cats are self-absorbed bastards that somehow manage to capture your heart, aren't they? - the way they look so disdaining when they know bloody well they're in trouble!
I miss my Miserable Old Git very much.

They don't give a flying you know whatGrin So glad she's come home to you. They're such a worry sometimes.
