Does anyone use a GPS or other cat tracker?

After three frantic days of searching for our cat we finally found him (Trapped inside school grounds!). He’s home a thinner, but unhurt.

It made me wonder if it’s worth getting a GPS tracker for him. Just looking into it. It looks like you can choose GPS or radio.

Does anyone use one for a cat? If so is it worth it?

We have just replaced the batteries in our Tabcat, which is an old-school tracker without GPS. The cat wears a tag on its collar, and you have a remote control which goes traffic light colours depending on how close you are.

It did save our cat's life once when she got trapped inside a shipping container. Having said that, I would love to upgrade it to a GPS one where you can look at a map on your phone.

Thanks that’s the one I just went ahead and ordered before I saw your post.

I’d love a GPS map of where he goes, but looking into it, they are not very accurate compared to radio and they are much heavier, I think it would be quite heavy to have round his neck all the time.
And you need to charge them every 2-5 days and we’re just not that organised!

It’s so good that it saved your cat’s life. Impressive stuff.

I wish they’d make one that runs off their microchips but that would probably involve some sort of radio activity to make 5he chip traceable.

I would have loved to have known my cats route.

We tried a GPS one called Halo by Pawtrax. Our cat is elderly and doesn’t go very far but the tracker kept showing her being in different locations to where she actually was, plus the collar flipped inside out and broke after a few months of use. Also interested in finding a recommendation for an alternative!

Our cat had a GPS one. He lost it and we didn’t bother getting another

We too have the Tabcat one described by @TuttiFrutti, which is cheaper than GPS, but has variable success. One of our cats lost their tag, and even with the device we couldn't find it again. Maybe GPS when we feel like replacing it.

I want one so desperately. I know he has another woman (cheap perfume) but just cannot prove it. That delinquent tosser would probably just get out of a collar within seconds though.

Hahaha! Cats are just jerks sometimes, aren't they?
