Cats with dandruff

In the last couple of weeks, both of our cats have started to develop dandruff on their backs. They’re both 6 years old, one short haired, the other long haired. Fed the same thing as usual (dry food), both mostly live indoors but have access to the outside. They have access to water at all times. They don’t seem to be itchy and have no sore or bald spots... can anyone advice what it could be due to and what can we do about it, since we probably won’t be able to get a vets appointment any time soon, please? TIA

I use salmon oil on m girls food. Last time she has it, the groomer have her a bath and it completely disappeared.

Ok, thanks, we’ll try some oily fish. My DH has been grooming them rather enthusiastically as they’ve been shedding a lot with the end of winter - could that be causing it?

Not keen to give them a bath!

2 of my long gone cats had dandruff and I was told by the vet that it was probably down to stress. They didn't have it for long, so I didn't have to treat it.

Gosh! I hope they’re not stressed because we’re all home all day?! I usually work from home anyway and one of them in particular is really friendly and more like a dog for wanting to be around us.

Actually a new neighbour moved in with at least one cat - I wonder if that’s it? Though there are quite a few cats on our street already...

My two house cats are both a bit dandruffy at the moment, but my horses are too, ita usually down to all of them shedding their winter coats.

A little bit of oil in their diet will help.

I don’t remember it happening last year... I’ll add oil to their diet and hopefully that will fix things. Thanks everyone!
