Cat making biscuits

All very cute but he's getting rather large and likes to knead around my head and face usually at 2am!! He only does it to me and sometimes it can be quite sore!! It's also almost like he puts all his strength in to it while our girl makes little delicate pads.
Anyone else's cats like this?
Is this his way of showing me he owns me!

Yes! Cheddar does it all the time, especially at night on my head and face. I also get her slobbering on my face as well. I keep her claws very short as it is very painful. She's currently doing it as I type.
I wanted to use her as a Pets as Therapy cat because she's got the ideal personality for it. She's so gentle and never uses her claws in anger. But can't because the baking could cause skin damage in elderly people.

They do it to the one they consider to be mum. Ours never did it to dh, only me.

Haribo only does it to me when I'm wearing a specific top and always in the same place. I have two of them but strangely does in only on the older one. Perhaps he sucked and kneaded it so much as a kitten that despite the top being washed it still has the smell of his drool on it.

Gilbert actually drooled for the 1st time last night and managed to give me a good scratch!! And that's with his nails short!

Ours seem to do it when they need to self settle, e.g. to go to sleep. We ended up getting a sheepskin to go on the end of the bed, they often make biscuits on it before settling down for the night.

If they get a bit feisty in the middle of the night, it often helps to put them back in the sheepskin as it puts them back into the biscuit making trance and they go all sleepy 😂

Boycat drools, Girlcat kneads. She's "only" 4.6kg so at least there's that to be thankful for, less weight behind the claws compared to if Boycat did it, she keeps her claws nice & short but VERY sharp.

Was rather uncomfortable when she decided my boob was the best kneading spot, and I couldn't wear a bra due to a recent operation on my side! She has also been known to knead with her BACK paws as well as the fronts...

violetbunny he goes to sleep (on my pillow) once he's had a good pad so maybe it is a self settle thing as well. I might look into the sheep skin to see if that helps.

Cheddar does it on anyone who sits still long enough. She did it the first time I met her. That we it. I was smitten!
