GPS tracker for cat - recommendations?

Has anyone used a GPS tracker for their cat and would you recommend it?
My cat's been AWOL for a few days and it's driving me demented. If she's alive and well, someone must be feeding her the bastard. So if she does turn up I want to put a tracker on her.
But how to do it? Can you get trackers that work like microchips ie put under the skin? I worry about a collar being an injury risk and/or falling off...

No personal experience of this at all but I follow Rolf the Warwick University Campus Cat on Twitter. He walks amazing distances from his house to the university - or at least he does when we are not on lock down.

The cat needs to wear a collar. Rolf also has to wear a high vis jacket after an accident but he seems to tolerate both these if it means he can keep up his patrols.

There are gps trackers & tracker collars that can be ordered off wish for a few pounds that then work with a programme on your phone. I'm going to order one of the gps tags & see if it works

put a note on your local fb group in case she's trapped in a shed somewhere - has happened to mine before

If your worried cat is lost. Empty contents of hoover into a box in garden and the scent may help.

How long was he gone for?.

4.5 long days!
We wouldn't usually worry for the first 1-2 days but she had a dodgy eye and we wanted to take her to the vet. When she finally turned up, her eyes didn't look great but we cleaned them up and they were fine the next morning. So she did save us some money on a consultation and eye drops, at least! 🙄

I wonder where she goes for that long. Do you think someone’s feeding her?.

She doesn't usually go for that long - I suspect she might have got trapped in an outbuilding. Someone could be feeding her - she is shy so it seems unlikely but not impossible.

I put notes through doors and she turned up the following evening - not immediately. But maybe someone read my note and checked their outbuildings, or decided to stop feeding her. Who knows.

Cats are such mysteries. Hence wanting a GPS tracker! I wouldn't use it for long, just enough time to work out where she usually likes to go.

We had a Tracktive, I think it was called. It was a bit bulky & swung round to under the cat's chin and he didn't like it much. The monthly premium was a bit steep too. If you could programme their ID chip like you can for the car flap I would definitely do it. Ours usually went on the same route.
