The random bully and the broken tail

We have 3 cats who very much enjoy being in the garden. We also have a visitor cat who very much enjoys being in our garden but not our 3 cats. He even hisses at me!

This morning it attacked and chased my smallest cat into the house, smashing the cat flap off the door in the process. Our little cat now has a kinked, droopy tail so he's been metacam-ed up and the vet will be called first thing (I think this counts as an essential visit?).

Never had a cat with a broken tail before, what do they do?

And how do I keep the big bully away, or is that nigh on impossible?

It may be broken or dislocated , on of my cats came home with a broken tail there was not a lot the vet could do about it so he just dosed him up on pain killers left it , puss had a kink in his tail for the rest of his life but it did not seem to hinder him at all .

To get rid of the bully , a water pistol and a lot of practice , or could you borrow a very barky dog ( when CV is over of course ) and leave it outside for a bit everyday .

My boy had a big slash across his tail, probably from when the bully cat smashed the catflap off the door as he was running inside.

Long lasting anti injection and a cone of shame which he's removed within 10 minutes. We'll just have to keep him close and manually let our other cats in / outside.

I have no experience in this field, but i hope your cat is ok soon 😻

We have strays roaming the place and my boy gets in to fights nearly every day.. what a tiring process 😭

Thank you! DP took him this morning but they're not sure they can save the end of his tail 😭

M’y little cat had to have her tail amputated after she had it broken.

Oh dear, he’ll manage if he needs to with a shorter tail.

If you can cat proof the garden it’ll stop bully cat coming in.

It might not be broken. One of my cats had a kinked, droopy tail - it was the result of a bite and her ligaments were torn but the tail bones weren't damaged - all it needed was an anti-biotic injection and it cleared up by itself. Hoping this is the case for your cat, OP.
