My poor little girl

My beautiful 18 year old cat had a stroke this morning, she has survived two near death experiences in the last 3 years and has come back from them and had radioactive iodine treatment for her hyperthyroidism about 3 months ago and was doing so well, she had put loads of the weight bck on, eating, really enjoying life. She looks much younger than 18.
This morning I heard a big crash in the bathroom and she was just lying there.
I got her up and she managed to walk down the stairs but I can see there is a right sided weakness and she is dribblinbg out of the right side of her mouth.
She ate a big breakfast, managed to jump up on the sofa and was licked her paws after breakfast she also managed to use the litter tray.
So I know she is safe for now. I had to go to work because I work in a hospital and it's a pandemic.
I'm really hoping it's a trans ischaemic attack and not a full stroke, it's nearly the weekend and I'm rooting for her. I'm so worried [sad}

Hey, that's really sad. I hope she pulls through. Is there any chance you could get her to the vet before the weekend? How stressful and upsetting for you. Best of luck to you both.

Well she was supposed to have a post treatment blood test and check up but the vet refused to do it. They are only seeing emergencies because of coronavirus so if there was something wrong with her treatment it will have been missed.

I am really sorry to hear that. I don't have anything useful to suggest except your cat will know how much you love her and you can hopefully spend time with her. What a sad, grim time this is for millions of people, for many reasons. This blasted bloody virus. Kind thoughts to you and your cat.

Oh no, she’s been through so much. Poor girl.

Hope your day's not been too awful and your Dcat's a lot better when you get home. Are all the vets only seeing emergencies? Flowers

The vet will see her but says there is little he can do.
She seems to have turned a corner this morning, she is much happier.
Although she has a right sided weakness she is wobbling round the house ok and doing cat things. She's also very affectionate again.
I'm going to see how it goes, other cats get by with much worse neurological disorders and do ok.
She's eating, using the litter tray and grooming. I wouldn't risk letting her out on her own but other than that she can manage the stairs without falling over. She may well cope ok.
Third life gone now though, only 3 left baby.

Relieved to hear that your cat’s health has improved enough that she can still enjoy life.
Thanks for everything you’re doing for us as a N.H.S. worker. X
