Can cat poo go in loo?

We have moved our litter trays to our bathroom. Have just found out that dh has been putting cat poo in loo and flushing it. (I usually bag and bin it.) Is it ok to flush? Or has cat poo got something in it that isn’t good for our sewer system to deal with?

It depends on the litter. My litter (Greenwood’s) can be flushed.

Cillmantain · 27/03/2020 21:49

This is what I have always done

FreckledLeopard · 27/03/2020 21:50

I always flush it and have never had any problems.

Haggisfish · 27/03/2020 21:51

No it can transmit a disease to water animals. I’ll find a link

BlackCatSleeping · 27/03/2020 21:52

No! Absolutely don't do this.

If you Google "Can I flush cat poo down the toilet", you'll get loads of reasons why you can't.

Haggisfish · 27/03/2020 21:54

Toxoplasmosis is what it can transmit.

Beamur · 27/03/2020 21:54

I don't, but my neighbour (who knows a bit about animal health) does.

It is very easy to block your drains with cat litter

QuestionableMouse · 27/03/2020 21:57

Yep, if you want to transmit toxoplasmosis. Bag it and bin it.

LazyFace · 27/03/2020 21:59

No

tillytoodles1 · 27/03/2020 22:05

I put poo but no litter down the toilet just to keep the tray a bit cleaner.

HardAsSnails · 27/03/2020 22:46

No.

Think of the sea otters.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/03/2020 23:01

No you’ve got to bin it.

TenThousandSpoons · 28/03/2020 06:36

No litter is going in the loo, only the actual poo. Ok so it’s a no from most. Thanks 😺
