Un neutered kitten - will he roam

I have a 4 month old kitten. He was due to be neutered at some point in the next month. I tried to bring this forward slightly to Monday but his appointment has been cancelled.

He seems very curious to go outside, and now that the weather is nice we will be outside in the garden more.

Will he want to roam further if he is not neutered?

I have no intention of him staying out more than a short while.

He is not chipped yet either as this was to be done at the same time as the neuter.

We live in a rural village.

I was looking at this one catproofgardens.eu/en/. Less obtrusive and looks a bit cheaper too.

It’s an Australian brand.

Keeping cats inside permanently is cruel.

I don't agree with this. I have had a couple of cats who definately preferred being inside. Some genuinely don't seem bothered by the outside world. I could leave the door open most of the day in the summer and neither bothered to venture out.

I had a Bengal and it definately would have been cruel to keep her in. She was out most of the day but the other two didn't care.
