Fence spikes?

Do they work? And is there and danger of them actually hurting a cat?

We have a nest box, put up before we got a cat, and never used - until now! I'm very excited but also worried as our cat (and occasional random cats) like to sit in top of it. Obviously he can't reach in but it would be terrifying for the poor birds I'm sure.

Should I set up spikes in the fence around it to keep them safe?

Someone on here had a cat hurt very badly by spikes on a neighbouring fence so I would say not to use them. There are rubber ones but I'm not sure how safe they are.

No please don't use them.

Bugger Sad

Is there anything safer we could use?

@MonsteraCheeseplant thanks. Unfortunately there's a big tree nearby so that wouldn't really work. Maybe I'll try to do something creative with thin branches so he can't get too close Hmm

You can DIY it with brackets and netting

Tricky with the tree but do-able
