She isn’t doing it as much since buying a massive scratch post but I need her to stop lol. I want to buy a new sofa!

Help 😩

Keep a water spray (I am using an old oil mister), in the lounge and spray her every time. Sounds cruel, but it's only water, and it really works. The hissier the better, I suspect Arthur is more disturbed by the "hissssss" than the water! He now runs away chirupping when he hears the lid being removed, I assume he is complaining Grin.

Haribo loves being squirted. I gave up after a while. He does have 2 scratching posts which he uses but an illicit go of the sofa is such fun.

Put the scratching post right in front of the bit of the sofa that's getting scratched. Once cat is reliably going for the post, start to move the post towards where you would rather have it.

Or the water spray thing, although you may find that only stops the cat scratching the sofa while you are in the room!

We got thick double sided tape for our new couches (after the last ones were decimated) which seems to be working well so far.

(He only scratches the corners)

Also cut their nails! If they are blunt they don't catch.

I sprayed ours with Impulse!!
Worked!!

Scratching post right next to it. They are doing it because it is a social area that smells of you and they want to add their scent.

Get a really large robust scratching post. This is going to sound nuts, but we had a large mirror with a hideous leather surround and during a move, it was propped on floor. Lord Fur loved watching himself in mirror as he ripped it to pieces, so mirror behind the scratching post might be further encouragement....

Spray the sofa with Feliway spray.

I put double sided tape on our sofa. She doesn't like the feel on her paws and it broke the habit.
