I love my cats but ...

Normally no trouble at all but god theyre testing my patience. I love them to death but the pair of them are being ass holes.

Both are exclusively indoors and cat1 is spayed already. Cat2 was coming in heat every 3 weeks since october, didnt try to escape as is too dense to realise outside is a 'thing' so was singing her song of the night and presenting herself to us instead🙈 kept pissing on everything so got her spayed Thursday. And all hells broke loose. Cat1 forgot who she is within 6 hours, and has spent since then growling, hissing and staring her down. Yes, likely to be cat2 smelling different and wearing a stupid jumper. Cat2 has been hiding and sulking, most likely because of said stupid jumper. Cat2 has now decided since this morning, that coming downstairs to use her litter tray is too much effort so pissed all over my sons bed. Thought it could of been because cat1 is being an arse and wont let her down so put a litter tray upstairs for her. Nope, walking 30cm to her tray was again too much effort so pissed all over her bed and my landing😬 cant take the jumper off because she started licking it straight away when i tried it earlier. Oh and cat1 is making herself bald from over grooming because she doesnt like next doors cats in the garden. Im ordering a feliway plug in and spray tonight see if that helps. I love 'em dearly but theyre driving me bonkers. More of a moan i guess than anything 😫

Your cats sound unhappy and bored. They aren't being assholes - you are!

  1. Get cat2 spayed. This is what responsible owners do. Entire cats always spray and pee.
  2. Play with them when another cat is around. Seeing another cat outside drives them crazy - so they pee in fear and frustration(I speak from experience). Playing will distract them as well as stopping them being so bored. Indoor cats get bored very easily.
  3. Feliway will help, but not as much as 1 and 2.

Sorry, I missed that you got cat 2 spayed already! This will almost certainly help, once her hormones die down.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 08/03/2020 18:56

My kittens, 6 and 8 months didn't recognise the dog after his 2 monthly groom. All hell broke out for about 2 days

Sorry no help, cats can be adorable arseholes

Cat1 isnt peeing anywhere, she just doesnt like other cats in the garden. Its never been an issue before as none ever came in. Going to put privacy film on the bottom of the door, already spoke to neighbour, hes doing what he can to keep them out and were going to put trellis up.

Cat2 is has just been spayed, thats whats causing the issue, shes pissing on everything rather than use her tray. Most likely because of the surgical suit but only started today, shes been using her tray 2 days after spay but decided today she doesn't fancy it. Could also be stress as she can be very nervy, only likes her people.

Not sure how im being an asshole, my cats are loved, well looked after and normally very happy and content until cat2 got spayed.

@Jaxhog - bit harsh there! Can't see how OP is being an asshole tbh.

Feliway spray I felt was better than the plugin, hopefully that should help. I've been there with a cat who liked to wee on the bed because she had a few issues - it's horrible and you have my sympathies. Hope the feliway helps.

Sleepycat91 · 08/03/2020 19:46

Yeah im going to order both, classic seems to fit their needs a bit better, covers both of them then

Introducing them like their strangers might help. It happened with our first cats when we had them neutered on the same day.

Try and keep calm so they don’t pick up on your feelings.

Hard to do when your mopping wee up though!.

Sleepycat91 · 08/03/2020 21:17

Shes just walked past her litter tray to shit on my door mat...

Feliway ordered, cat1 is going to have to be shut downstairs so cat2 can only destroy stairs and landing...

Lots of scent swapping some calm down treats might help (purple pack on Amazon)

you might have to ask the vet for some happy pills to break the cycle of the hair pulling i had to have them for dcat 1 after I had a baby he removed his fur they gave me pills he jumped everything I rang the vet I told the receptionist my overweight amenable cat was sucking and humping my pillow she said OH MY GOD THATS UNACCEPTABLE and sorted me new pills in fairness it was so far out of character for my cat I checked his markings to make sure i had the right one 🤣

slipperywhensparticus · 08/03/2020 21:26

Are you using the proper cleaner to remove the scent of the pee and poop?

Sleepycat91 · 08/03/2020 21:28

Why shes got stressed 2 days later. I tried taking the suit off earlier, nurse cleared her to take it off tomorrow but she started licking it within 5 minutes, worried what damage she could do if left overnight. Cone terrified her more

Is there a reason they cant go in the garden?

Sleepycat91 · 08/03/2020 23:35

Not cat proof and im right next to a very busy main road. I wasn't looking for advice or an argument as to why my cats should go outside. One fell out my bedroom window 2 years ago and i can open the door to her and she doesnt want to go outside, the other one doesnt realise she can. Theyre 2 and 4 and too nervous, theyd be killed in minutes

Might be worth also ordering pet remedy, the diffuser one - feliway did nothing for my two but pet remedy got us through 16 months of serious renovations without any incidents (well, cat ones). Hope it calms down for you soon!

Sleepycat91 · 09/03/2020 07:56

Got up 4am to feed the baby, put her infront of her litter tray and she pissed on the floor infront of it instead 😡
