Deaf cats

Anyone else got a deaf cat? My cat is stone deaf but could hear up until around 16, she's 18 now.
She is funny, it amuses her to creep up behind me and shout really loudly. She can't hear herself but seems to get a rise out of my reaction Grin if I don't react she looks really disapointed.
I've taught her basic sign language - gestures that she understands so I'll point at her bowl and she knows it's dinner time, gestures towards me and she comes running inside, patting the bed means come and cuddle with me and she'll jump up right away that kind of thing.
I can't just come in the house and touch her if she's got her back to me she'll hit the roof. I have to make sure I come in and stand in front of her so she can see me first.
She's beginning to think I'm deaf too and has recently developed some behaviours like patting my face for attention, she never did that before, giving me a harmless nip if she's hungry and "pointing" to things she wants by sitting next to them.
If she's outside she keeps looking back at me for reassurance and will come running straight away if I gesture at her.
It's adorable how she has adapted.
I'd be interested to hear how other deaf cats cope.

There is no volume control on the miaow now though, I'm sure my neighbours can hear her through the wall.
