To put a litter tray down?

We have had our cats for eight years with no problems. However, one of them keeps weeing in the utility room. We haven't had a litter tray since they were kittens. I wonder if it's because the weather has been so wet he doesn't want to go out??
I'm worried if I put a litter tray down I'm making a 'rod for my own back' but I can't keep having him wee in the house!

Why would you not put a tray down? I might check for a uti first or and joint stiffness

My cats mainly go outside to do the toilet but we still have tray. It gets used a few times when the weather is really bad. I'd get one. Better than having pee on the floor

Of course you should have a tray down. Cats often don't want to go out, particularly if it's cold and/or wet. And it seems to bother them more as they get older.

Yup, litter tray for sure. The weather has been awful, no wonder your furred friends want to have a wee indoors, who wouldn’t in that weather! Plus if they usually shit in your neighbours gardens it will hopefully encourage them to use the tray instead of annoying the poor neighbours. I’ve always had a tray. It’s part of cat life to me

I'll sort a litter tray out on my way home tonight!

Coming very late to this, but I have a litter tray which is hardly ever used, but it came in handy when the weather was awful, and when my cat was sick.

Seems mean to force them outside in the worst of the weather😿
