Hi everyone,

I haven't been on MN for such a long time - life has got in the way ( separated from my husband, but that would be another thread altogether!) but thought I'd update you all on Heidi.

If you're unfamiliar, I drove to Northumberland from Devon and back again in 24 hrs to collect Heidi from another lovely MNetter who had found this beautiful stray.

Heidi has a heart murmur but doesn't require medication for it, and is still a happy and contented girlie!

She also has a friend - Felix! Another rescue, he has three legs and is the noisiest, greediest cat on Earth!

But here they both are in relative harmony using my bed as their own!

Hey @gatekeeper ! Yes I am :) lovely to hear from you too would hope you'd see my update!

Yes Heidi is rather splendid Grinshe's such a good girl still. Loves her cuddles and boops in the morning and sleeps on my bed at night.

Felix is very naughty but he's just so adorable and noisy at the same time 🤣

Ninkanink · 04/03/2020 13:16

Oh I loved your and Heidi’s story at the time and am so pleased to read your update! Sorry to hear that sad and/or difficult things have happened in the meantime but I’m glad you have your two cats to fill your days with fun and cosiness.

StewPots · 04/03/2020 13:30

Aww thanks @Mayhapitis @Toddlerteaplease @Ninkanink :)

Yes it's been a rough ride since then. I have a condition called Tietzes ( drs think the stress of my separation caused it to escalate) which means I'm often hospitalised for pain management, am under the pain team and have to take some serious meds to even be able to work at all. Had to change my job, reduce hrs everything.

But! My kids and the two kitties brighten up my world so much. Both cats stay by my side when I'm flaring and on bed rest or when discharged from hospital after a few days, and don't leave me (unless for food of course 🙄🤣) I'm so lucky we all found each other!

Beware of saddle thrombosis in your heart murmur cat. We just had to put our 3year old down and it was so very traumatic.

StewPots · 04/03/2020 13:55

@mypoorfurbaby oh I'm so sorry to hear that :( Thanks for you and love sent.

Heidi has 6 monthly check ups and so far so good, she's very active out and about all day even in rain. In the summer she sleeps outside, we never see her except for feeding times when it's warm out!

Hi Stewpots 👋🏻
I was massively overinvested in the original thread at the time, I’m so sorry things have been hard lately. Heidi looks in rude health! Hi to Felix! 😁

Gatekeeper · 08/03/2020 16:04

afternoon Stewpots

my old mate had Tietzes ; took her 18 months to make a full recovery but was hard going. Flowers and sympathies...

Sherlock is doing canny; he is 14 now and more inclined to snooze these days...prefers and quick nip round the garden for wees/poos, roll around the catmint clump and then back inside. Keeps himself very clean and handsome still

We also have another cat! Since Heidi we have rehomed 3 stray girls that were brought to our house by an entire b&w tomcat. Over the last 12 months we've gradually gained his confidence and Sherlock has grudgingly become used to him slightly . Did usual thing sof putting him on Animal Search/facebook/vets etc but no one claimed him . he went to the vet two weeks ago for the old pom-poms off and he's hardly left the house since. If i had a baby carrier he would be inside as he is as soft as muck and extremely affectionate. Lets me put hats on him and all sorts. Sherlock gives him withering looks

Hope the next few months brings recovery for you Stew...love to you all xxx

I remember the original Heidi story! It's great that she's doing well and has a new companion.

Gatekeeper - ex-Toms really are the most affectionate of cats. They know the value of a warm house.

thecatneuterer · 09/03/2020 18:28

It's lovely to read this. I remember the story. Glad to hear Heidi is doing well.
