Missing kitty

Anyone got any ideas?
Our cat went out about 7:30 this morning and hasn't come back since. It's really unusual for him because he's such a 'home' cat at heart and usually only goes out for a toilet break and quick wander before cuddling back up inside

We live in a village so fairly rural although there is a main road not too far away but don't think he would go there.

Anyone else had this? Any reassurance or advice? Very worried about my boy 😭

Never as long as 12 hours, but she has gone missing for five hours, which is very unusual.

I walked the streets calling her name (well whispering as it was 5am).

She came home shortly after that and had limp. Vet found an infected cat bite on her back, she had a temperature so was hiding outside I think to cool down.

Have you checked neighbours sheds and garages?

Want2beme · 03/03/2020 19:54

From time to time even the homliest of cats go on the missing list. They get involved in something and just focus on that.

How old is he and have you had him long? Could he be stuck somewhere inside without you realising? Or in a shed?

Hope he comes home soon.

@Itwasntme1

Yeah the neighbours garages are all locked and no one really has sheds around here for some reason.. he's a quick little thing too and wouldn't hang around if he heard someone either

@Want2beme he's a 2 year old ginger and white British shorthair. We've had him since he was a little kitten (8 weeks) and he was an indoor cat but we're having a baby in July so wanted to let him out. He's been going out now for about 4 months and never wandered far. He hates being cold and wet and loves his home comforts as such. He's a very 'needy' cat as mum left when he was born 😭

So sorry, I know how worrying this is.

Have you tried walking around and calling him? Are there any noises that get his attention. My cat comes running when she hears the word treat.

Do you have a cat flap - can he get back in when you go to bed?

oldestchild90s · 03/03/2020 20:08

I've heard someone say if you put the litter tray outside he will catch his scent? Cats love to worry you sometimes, i wouldn't be surprised if he waltzed in like nothing has happened in the morning.. well i hope so 🤞🏻 keep us updated!

2020firsttimemum · 03/03/2020 20:19

@Itwasntme1
Yeah we've walked around with some dreamies and shook the bag cause he usually comes running for them (he loves them so much he's learnt to open my bed side table when he wants them 😂) but no luck. My boyfriend has gone back out again to see if he can find him. Pregnancy hormones have made me an emotional wreck and I don't think he can deal with my crying tbh 😂

@oldestchild90s
He doesn't have a litter tray anymore where he goes outside. Other half put his blanket out for him but now it's rained and it's got wet so now I'm upset he might not be able to smell his way home.

I know if he comes back he'll wonder why on earth im smothering him like nothing has happened but I miss him so much 😭 he is literally my shadow!

Boy cats do tend to wander and I’ve always had more troubles with ginger boys than the others! Our Barnsley was missing for five days once, then sauntered back in with a full tummy and smelling vaguely of cigarette smoke! Fingers crossed your boy will be home soon

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/03/2020 21:43

When you get him back either cat proof the garden or buy him a dog run. Rural roads can be very dangerous for cats, people speed down them so fast.

Want2beme · 04/03/2020 11:10

Any sightings of him today?

Itwasntme1 · 04/03/2020 16:40

I was hoping there would be an update with happy news by now.

Any sightings?

ozymandiusking · 04/03/2020 16:54

I do hope he's home soon. Cats can be such a worry.

2020firsttimemum · 04/03/2020 17:40

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay!

He is back! We found him late last night as my partner was moving one of the cameras to catch him if he came back. He heard a soft crying which sounded like him and when I called his name he kept crying.

Turned out he had been locked in a neighbours garage the entire day (poor thing) so we managed to get them to open it up just before they were going to bed.

He's unharmed, was just covered in some oil from their car and was a bit scared and naturally hungry.

He won't be doing that in a rush that's for sure. He's definitely feeling sorry for himself still and won't leave my side.

Thanks for all your advice and concern ❤️
