Today is love your pet day but he's had the indignity of being rugby tackled, shoved in his basket and taken to the vets for a claw trim! It took two nurses as he was like a turtle, retracting his feet so they couldn't get to them!

He was told he doesn't look his age though so I suppose that's something!

What a gorgeous boy!

Patchworkpatty · 20/02/2020 19:01

My little black and white girlie would have rugby tackled YOU to the ground before she allowed anyone to put her in a box for the vets ... without her brother coming too .. she's a softie for him .. who wouldn't be he is SUCH A FLIRT ..

Aw poor Harry! You are a cruel hooman.

Boycat is a very unsettled cat today - nowhere near as bad as being taken to the V.E.T., but I had the Sky repair man in. Not only did he come INTO the house, he even had to go into my bedroom to reset the mini box in there. Poor kitty was in a total funk - strange man in HIS house.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/02/2020 20:08

Oh dear, he does look a bit traumatised by it all. Did he get a lollipop?.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 20/02/2020 20:28

He's buggered off outside now (catproofed garden so he can't get far!) but he can have some stinky fish treats if he comes in. He also had the indignity of his paunch being mentioned several times!

Poor Harry!

Just out of curiosity, why do you trim claws?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/02/2020 11:38

We don't usually trim his claws but he doesn't go far to wear them down and they are getting sharp to the point he's made the back of his ear bleed. He also keeps getting them caught, including on my face - I still have the scar from that one!

He doesn't know yet but we've ordered some nail clippers and we're going to do it next...

Harry waves to Snorg and says he is going to practice her indignant look in the second picture as it's so much better than his!

I suspect she quite enjoys her bath. She never makes a fuss. She also says to tell Harry to stop being a baby about having his wild clipped.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 21/02/2020 11:47

Toddler - your phone has a mind of its own!

Thanks for explaining re claws! I just assumed that scratching posts kept them trimmed.

sashh · 21/02/2020 13:03

Poor harry.

One of my foster cats grew nails as a hobby so the vet showed me how to trim them.

Mine acts like wheis being murdered when she is deflead. My carer takes her into the bathroom and locks the door, it sounds like they are murdering one another, but a slice of ham later they are best friends.

Allergictoironing · 21/02/2020 13:10

I have to trim Boycat's claws 3-4 times a year, though Girlcat does fine with having hers done at their annual MoT. It's partly down to them being indoor cats I think, not wearing the length away walking on anything harder than laminate flooring. And like people's nails, cat's claws can grow at different rates.

Scratching posts don't keep the claws down as such, they are more for sharpening I understand.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2020 16:05

Cheddar has to have hers done, as she likes to make biscuits on my bare skin and her claws are like needles. She's fairly good about it, but becoming more reluctant! Snorg is an angel about it as she is about most things.😃

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2020 16:06

Problem is trying to find hers under her toe floofs
