weird cat issue

I have two six year old female, spayed cats who have lived together since kittenhood with no issues - the odd bit of mardiness over a sleeping spot or whatever, but other than that fine.

The other day there were cats fighting on the TV and they both went a bit loopy. Ever since then, one of them keeps hissing and growling at the other one whenever she goes near her. In all other aspects she is behaving totally normally - eating, sleeping, going to the loo etc and seems fine. What on earth is going on?!

Who knows. Cats are odd!! I'm sure it'll all resolve itself soon enough.

My siblings had fights with each other if a strange cat was seen in the garden. Maia took a chunk out of her sister ear.

It was the only time they fought.

Right. This happened with my two (brother and sister) who were about eight when a strange cat came into our home. The normally docile male cat quickly saw off the intruder and then turned on his sister for a few days.

I "happened" to have a book on cat psychology (!) with Q&A's about various scenarios, this being one of them.

Apparently my male cat will have had a surge of adrenalin which won't have been expended since the intruding cat left so quickly. So he was still in fight mode for a few days while we waited for the adrenaline to subside. It was very upsetting but it did resolve itself.

My two female cats were the best of friends.. they turned seven and decided they would now only tolerate each other.. nothing changed, they just don't like each other anymore.
It was really sad actually.
