Renaming a rescue cat

Ginger female cat coming home next week.

I can't use her current name (please don't ask as it's outing) so looking for suggestions as to what to call her.

Hopefully picture attached, but some imagination needed as she's not so miserable-looking in read-life.

How about Marnie (short for Marmalade) I think that would be cute. I have two huge monster fluffy gingers called Archie and Angus and we went down the Scottish route with their names 😀

She is absolutely beautiful and her little paws reaching out looks like she’s saying “pick me, pick me!” which of course up you did!

HuggedTheRedwoods · 09/02/2020 11:12

Lottie?

I think a rescue cat finding a loving forever slave home must be the cat equivilent of winning the lottery. She's beautiful.

Thank you all.

Not looking for a Hitchhiker's reference, just sparked by the Zaphod suggestion, but love the way threads develop.
@thecatneuterer Please use the combination that includes Zaphod. It's a brilliant cat name for a boy.

@Stabbitha1 please explain the Symba reference. I don't get it ('cos I'm old and out of touch, and Google isn't helping me).

Symba should be spelt Simba I think which might help. Unless there's a Symba I don't know about either!

(We had two Simbas waaaay before the Lion King - Mum had lived in Southern Africa for a few years.)

gypsywater · 09/02/2020 12:12

Persephone!

Saffy/Saffron

Miljea · 10/02/2020 00:18

Nah, like I said earlier. You're looking at Zaphod.

😊

Miljea · 10/02/2020 00:21

And, I am 100% not HGttG. I did read it, finally, a couple of years ago. In my 50s.

So not a Hitch-hiker nerd whatsoever.

But that puss is Zaphod.

😊

Ruska (ROO-skah) is the Finnish word for autumn colours and would be an awesome name for a girl cat. Rosa would also be a cool name, as would Naranja (Naranya, means orange--the fruit)

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 10/02/2020 08:56

I love Demelza

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/02/2020 11:01

Actually, with the picture, she could be a CLAWdine.

thecatneuterer · 10/02/2020 14:09

Ha ha at Clawdine - I'm stealing that.

Ellmau · 10/02/2020 17:05

She looks quite like a very cute lion so Leonie/Leona.

dustibooks · 10/02/2020 17:51

Simba is the Swahili word for lion.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/02/2020 20:41

Ahh lovely girl.

We always change our animals names , even if we know them - New Name for their New Life Smile

When we were short listing names for our Cats To Be , we liked "Phoenix" if we got a ginger cat . The burnt orange of the flame and the being given a new life .

(We got two jet black)
