Claw growing from bean

Hello!
Our little cat along with so many other problems has got a little claw growing from a bean! It started as a little nub but now has a definite claw look and shape to it.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it normal? Sinister? Can I cut it if it gets too long?

He's otherwise healthy apart from a heart murmur.

Thanks! Grin

They are called "horned paws", you should find lots of information on Google but as far as I know, nothing sinister. I know someone who's cat has them and it doesn't affect her (the cat).

Oo fab thank you. Just a bit concerned they'll grow and curl and be painful to walk on - can they be trimmed like a normal nail?

It's called a cutaneous horn. It doesn't have a blood supply so you can cut it, but if it's on a weight bearing area you may need to get it removed as it can dig in and cause lameness.
