Cats have suddenly stopped eating Whiskas, why?

Same cat food, 7+ Whiskas but both our cats are seeming less interested in eating it over the past couple of weeks. They eat some but never finish it. Have Whiskas changed their recipe? Both cats seem ok in every other way. Thanks for any views.

A few years ago my old boy would vomit terribly after Whiskas - vet could find nothing wrong.

One day waiting for the kettle to boil, I idley picked a tin up and read the ingredients - non organic material.

Switched to purina, fresh boiled chicken and the occasional cat soup and never had a problem. I'm not sure what the 'non organic material' is (perhaps something innocuous?) but I didn't like the sound of it.

Because they are cats.

No further explanation required......

My cats loved Felix as good as it looks, then they went on to sheba but mine seem to be very fussy.. it's a guessing game really, they seem to jump brand to brand from time to time! Maybe they get bored of it?!

bluebluezoo · 21/01/2020 20:30

Because they’re cats?

Have you recently stocked up? That’s a guarantee the little buggers will stop eating it.

You now have to experiment until they find something else acceptable. As soon as you get confident that they like it and stock up...they’ll stop eating that one.

Haribo has always been a greedy bugger and has been eating Whiskas kitten poultry in gravy since I got him at 10 weeks old no problem. He also has Hills which I will eventually mainly feed him. However he is now 7 months old I tried him with Whiskas fish in jelly a few weeks ago and now won't look at the poultry flavour.

They've realised they're the 2 out of 10 and don't wish to follow the crowd anymore.

Seriously though, we switched to Canagan, much better quality and they've both been much healthier. My bank balance however, not so much.

I have about five brands I rotate or my cat gets bored.

Try something grain free with a high meat content.

Whiskas is a fairly low quality food, so there might be health benefits is trying something different

Because they are contrary furry bastards. No other reason. I have sis different types. All both favourite and hated in equal measures.

Ours went off whiskers too...

Now has gourmet perle.... but vomits the turkey flavour up...

We give the turkey flavour one to a friends cat, that cat now wont eat anything else apart from the turkey gourmet perle...

Thank you for these responses and 😂 at some of them. I might try buying another brand and see what happens. Will report back! Thank you.
