Alternative to Profender?

TrickyD · 19/01/2020 18:36

Our rescue cat arrived here in the autumn. The vet recommended Profender as it would be easier to apply than dosing with a tablet.

However she has such crazily dense fur, it was barely possible to part it in order to apply the lotion.

She is actually quite good with tablets. Any recommendations of
effective worm pills ideally available on Amazon before I ask the vet for his, no doubt expensive, version?

Mine had milbemax tablets before profender

Mine also have milbimax. The tablets are much smaller and apparently nicer tasting than Drontal.

I say milbemax too, although I have to hide the tablet in a little bit of fish or chicken to persuade my cat to take it.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have just rung the vets but they don’t use Milbemax, their recommendation is Droncit tablets. But looking online I am not convinced this treats all types of worms.

She is a rescue cat, first visit to the vet in August, so they are keen for us to take her in to check weight to make sure the dose is correct, so I wary of ordering online until this has been established.

Any thoughts, please, on Droncit?

What flea treatment do you use as some of them also cover some worms

dementedpixie · 24/01/2020 16:24

Droncit just seems to treat tapeworm

HardAsSnails · 24/01/2020 16:31

I use Drontal tablets for worms.

TrickyD · 24/01/2020 16:43

I will check with vets about what exactly Droncit will treat. If it is just tapeworms, once she has been weighed, and I know the correct dose, I can get hold of more comprehensive tablets.

I am perfectly happy with spiders, cockroaches etc, but am so worm phobic I can barely write the word! I hope they won’t all come wriggling out else I shall leave home.
