to Baxter the Bengal.

We have lost three elderly cats in the past three years which left us with one and we weren't sure if she was lonely or happy to have finally made it to the top position in the house so unsure if we should get a companion for her.

Fast forward to Boxing Day and a close friend messaged and asked if we would be interested in taking in nine month old Baxter. Her daughter, who Baxter owned, was at Uni three days a week, had a two year old and busy social life and was due to move house so wanted him to go to a good home and thought of us.

So we said Yes. He's a handful and I think our other cat is thinking WTF but the hissing stopped after three days and a night together on the cat nip and we love him.

Cue a load of cat toy deliveries to keep him entertained and plans to turn a room into a cat climbing wall so any advice appreciated!

Enjoy your new Lord and Master. May you live long and prosper as his slaves.

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 09/01/2020 18:25

Wow what a beauty! That fridge picture is hilarious 😂 you will need a lock and key!

Autumnchill · 09/01/2020 18:25

@TheLongRider you're not wrong! Only had moggies before and heard how stupid clever Bengals were but he is into everything!

We are definitely running around after him!

I literally got the Christmas ham out, turned to put on the side and turned back to get the cheese and there he was.

He's been in the Dishwasher, every cupboard, drawer, locked in pantry, coat cupboard 😁

He's beautiful 😍

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/01/2020 18:47

I lost mine in November 💔, they are the best cats & so clever. We used to say ours was a Jack Russell in a cat onesie.

You’ll never open a cupboard again without him jumping in & they learn how to open things themselves, ours could open the drawers under our bed & any door.

Autumnchill · 09/01/2020 18:56

Sorry for your loss.

We're finding out how inquisitive he is. Having to check whenever we open/close a door

Thank you.

No matter how naughty they are you’ll always be secretly impressed by the ingenuity. Ours took the kick boards off in the kitchen. The day he realised the bath panel came off was a treat too.

They like ladders so if you go in the loft lock him somewhere safe until you’ve finished.

OhMeows · 09/01/2020 19:53

😍!!! Goodness he's fancy isn't he!

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 09/01/2020 19:57

H'e s fabulous - we've got 2 part Bengals and they're just a bit daft!

Caught one in the very same pose in the fridge more than once.

The other is new and we've discovered he's a shredder. No loo roll is safe....

Ohffs66 · 09/01/2020 19:59

He's beautiful! I used to have a Bengal, like others said they get into everything! We lost ours for hours once when she was small and I was convinced she'd run away. She'd managed to get into the crockery cupboard and must have been napping for a few hours, eventually started meowing to get out. They have so much character. Also loved to sit on the side of the bath and dip her paws in.

Autumnchill · 09/01/2020 20:02

That's a good tip about the loft ladder! We still have the Christmas decs to put up there so must put him in a separate room.

Not seeing much of his intelligence yet 😁 just playful, boisterous and very loving. He's slept on the bed every night

We've had a fall in the bath whilst I was in it!

For those that had/have Bengals, did you let them out? I'm worried he'll go exploring and get lost

Oh he is just gorgeous

MasakaBuzz · 09/01/2020 20:07

I have got a 4 year old Silver Smoke Bengal - Lucifer AKA git cat. It’s a bit of a shock after an elderly female. He eats like a horse, climbs everything, steals any food that isn’t nailed down, (or the dog hasn’t got first). My stair carpet will never be the same again.

I am realising that his predecessor, the late much missed Buzz, was an angel by comparison. Her only fault was a hard core mouse habit.

He is great fun.

Mine goes out. He was rehomed because his previous owner moved into a flat and didn’t think he would cope as an inside cat. . He is free to come and go as he pleases. He is a bit of a wuss mind you. Won’t go out in the rain.

SoulStarS · 09/01/2020 20:11

He’s magnificent!

One thing re going outside - I’ve lost count of the amount of ‘missing’ Bengal cat posters I’ve seen in the last few years. Sad

justthecat · 09/01/2020 20:12

He’s lovely, stunning eyes 😻

Autumnchill · 09/01/2020 20:15

Thank you everyone. I'm hoping when we get the climbing wall that will keep him active.

He was at the vets yesterday to have his plums removed but I suspect it's not going to calm him down!!!

Ah he likes that doesn’t he?.

EachandEveryone · 20/01/2020 21:30

Wow its massive 🙂🙂 hows the other one coping?

SciFiScream · 20/01/2020 21:46

I see bengals on massive running wheels on insta. Maybe you could get one of those?

Autumnchill · 21/01/2020 05:16

We're turning the middle bedroom into a home office and his playroom. He played on it last night while we were going to sleep. I think it's a hit.

He is playing a bit rough with our other cat but I'm making sure she gets 'alone' time and we've put an additional litter tray upstairs and food for her. She's just come to see me for her morning cuddle but give it 5 mins and he'll bound in
