Help! Can't buy clumping litter anywhere

I've been struggling over the last year to buy clumping (clay/fullers earth) cat litter at a reasonable price as it's the only type my two fussy buggers will use.

Aldi and Booker and the Range have stopped doing it permanently and on driving out to Lidl they have none and tell me they may never get any more as it's been blocked, whatever that means.

Tesco and pets at home and amazon charge £8-12 for what I generally pay £1.55 for - does anyone know of anywhere else I can order/beg/borrow/steal it from on a regular basis?!

(Obvs will buy expensive one if that's my only option but am on a tight budget so finding an extra £20-30 a month for the three trays is a hefty jump!)

Sainsbury's clumping litter is good. There was a supply problem late last year but it's back in now.

This is stuff is actually really good it's about £1.20. Happy Shopper brand so available at most corner shops I always grab a bag when its in stock.

Its a bit hit and miss when it's in stock though.

ASDA had some near me last week.
Tesco have had none for AGES.
Stock up if you find some. There is obviously an issue somewhere.......

Thanks ladies! I'll try asda once me and kitties are back home tomorrow :)

I use Pettex, which the pet shop supplies.

Lindy2 · 06/01/2020 18:37

I used to use the Tescos one but it has disappeared from their shelves along with every other type of litter apart from the ridiculously expensive Catsan, which I think is rubbish.

I'm starting to think there is some kind of Catsan secret takeover being attempted.

I've switched to a wood pellet one from Pets at Home. It seems quite good and is good value too as you don't seem to need as much in the tray as you do with the clay stuff. DCat is a bit confused by it but when she looks at her tray a bit puzzled I lift her up and put her on it she seems happy enough to do her business.

I think CoOp might do a clumping clay but again their shelves were just full of Catsan when I last looked.

Zooplus do clumping litter I think. I don't know why there's such a shortage of litter just now

Icanflyhigh · 06/01/2020 23:07

We stock clumping litter at our cattery and order in bulk from zooplus.
There have been supply issues though, so we are now having 2 x pallets delivered twice annually.

undercoveraessedai · 07/01/2020 20:19

I am reassured it's not just me! Have ordered six massive bags of Pettex (they've used that in the past) so hopefully will be ok for a while - thanks for all your help!

I picked up 2 bags of Pettex at the pet shop today and they have twice weekly deliveries...

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/01/2020 23:05

Having read this thread, Lenny is now guarding his last bag of Pettex.

Someone was buying this litter in home bargains and she said she had been struggling to buy it.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 11/01/2020 12:54

Lidl do clumping litter that’s nice and cheap - in fact I’m off to get some today....

3kidsandafewcats · 22/01/2020 11:26

My Lidl didn’t have any litter last week but back in stock now, I got some this morning.
