NDN cat

Elderly NDN asked me to feed her cat from today until after new year - not a problem
Got home from work today to find key and note through letter box re this and it’s the wrong key!
Left me back door key not front - fine but she’s locked her gate from the inside and it’s like Fort Knox so can’t actually get to her back door
Smallest fence is 6 foot high plus trellis of 18 inches - I don’t have a big enough ladder
I’ve been madly ringing any of her friends that I know who might have a key to no avail
Would you break in via local locksmith?
Buy a bigger ladder?
Feed cat from outside fence?
Ring NDN and see if her family could arrange to meet me 1/2 way (90 minute drive each on Xmas eve) and I’m working tomorrow

Can you keep the cat at yours in the spare room? Or is it indoor only?.

Would any other neighbours have a key?

It’s not an indoor cat - so could leave food outside but unless I monitor closely could not be sure who was eating it as lots of local cats

I assume the cat flap is in the back door too then? How awkward. Worst case, I suppose you could always post dry food through the letter box...

Is the fence the type where the fence panels slide into posts? If so you could push one up and climb under, even if you can't just remove it fully.

If not, I'd borrow a ladder and remove the back gate lock, or get through the fence somehow.

She’s away a long time, she needs to organise something for her pet fgs.

Does it come to you when called?. I hope she’s left the heating on for it.

Fab suggestion re fence panels - am sure they are type that slide up - will get DS on case in morning whilst I’m at work
Had a conversation with another neighbour re situation when he dropped off a parcel earlier - thinks he might have a spare key if he can find it and lock not been changed also offered use of bigger ladder
As NDN is elderly am also going to suggest key box with pin code for future (DM has one and v useful)
